A motel 6 disguised as a hotel

Posted 06-Apr-2014
Pros: nothing
Cons: lighting, customer service on part of the night staff... and parking
Location: location is far from the main hollywood area -- with traffic it takes awhile. There is a Ross Department store across the street for shopping?
Hum... well, the recessed lighting was either on (full blast) or off with no other soft lights available in the room -- the only thing on your night stand was your phone and tv remote. The parking lot is small and limited - leaving more than one guest (including myself) driving around the nearby streets looking for a spot. The night staff were not friendly - Our overall experience was a great disappointment. I wish I could say I was having a bad day - but quite frankly, though the pictures are nice on the website -- the experience was not. Sorry Dixie, wish I could have given you a better rating.

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry that your stay with us was nothing but perfect. Being located in Hollywood and one of the few hotels that does not charge for parking many customers take advantage and bring more then one car making it difficult to find parking. We are working on these issues and hope to see you soon so that we can make your stay nothing but perfect.

Nice Hotel near the Night Life

Posted 01-Apr-2014
Pros: Close to everything. Good sized room, hard wood floors, flat screen TV with tons of channels.
Cons: I wish they would use less fragrant cleaners in the rooms.
Location: 2 miles to the Walk of Fame, 4 miles (8 minute drive) to Universal Studios
Hotel was clean and employees were nice. We were only here for one night, but would definitely stay again. The price was good compared to others in the area.

Was a great place to stay, we were close to all of the attractions that Hollywood has to offer....Used the Metro which was right next to the Hotel. Resturant was great for Breakfast (Loved the Coffee)

Location, location, location

Posted 05-Mar-2014
Pros: Location, easy to get on freeway and other main LA roads, in Thai Town, plenty of good Thai restaurants within walking distance, excellent staff.
Cons: Shower curtain rod was ready to fall off, microwave had to be replaced, narrow parking spaces, need to clean vents in bathroom light/fan combo.
We knew this was an older hotel (motel), so our expectations were not high. We wanted this location at this price, so we were not disappointed on any of those points. We were very pleased with the helpful staff, who would have a printout with directions almost before we finished asking about particular attractions nearby. Decent stay at a very reasonable price.

Nicely remodeled

Posted 22-Feb-2014
Pros: Location is convenient.
Cons: Sound proof for the rooms with door sharing. Double doors would be helpful.
Looks like motel outside but inside is nicer. Our room was noisy due to a door connected to the next room.

Hotel on Hollywood Blvd close to Metra in LA

Posted 12-Feb-2014
Pros: Location and free parking.
Cons: Improve the bathroom and offer better toiletries (conditioner!!!)
Location: The Metra was VERY close and also it's right on Hollywood Blvd. There is a Thai Village close by, which had delicious Thai food.
This was my husband and I's first time in LA and we wanted a hotel that wasn't very expensive, but still in a good location. If you are looking for a hotel in Hollywood to crash after a night out, this is the perfect hotel for you. It was walking distance to the Metra, which will take you to any part of Los Angeles. It was ideal for us because we planned on going out downtown and also to Chinatown. For the price and location it was worth it. The room was very spacious for two people, however the room was pretty dirty and the bathroom was sketchy. The Dixie should take the time and money to improve and update the bathrooms. Also they only had shampoo and a tiny little soap for us to use. I couldn't believe they didn't have conditioner! Other than that, we had a nice stay at the Dixie and would recommend it for someone who doesn't plan on staying in their room the whole night. Also we loved that the parking was free.

Very Disappointing

Posted 09-Feb-2014
Location: There is an Ross outlet just across the road.
My husband and I had just checked in to the hotel and I was taking my shower. And suddenly one GUY hotel staff just opened the door with his master key and came into our room without knocking on the door to ensure no one is inside. This was an horrible experience, what if my husband was not in the room at that time?? I seriously can't imagine... By the way, the staff came in with a lightbulb saying that one of the bulb is not working in the bathroom and he needs to change it when all are working fine!! The sink top in the toilet was also slanted and it seems like it is going to give way anytime soon... Walls are thin and I can hear people staying above walking here and there in the middle of the night. Glad that I had only stayed 1 night there...
