not too far from dolby theatre

Posted 28-Feb-2015
Pros: room was clean and tidy, bathroom was somewhat clean...needed new caulking in tub area; lots of mirrors, which helps
Cons: redo caulking in bathrooms
was able to book in earlier than 2pm...there is no elevator for 2nd floor, so heavy bags can be an issue..try not to heavy foot if room is on second floor as floors are laminate...unfortunately shower head is not for tall persons, there was a restaurant attached to property but has since closed doors, next best place would be starbucks on corner, motel is situated in THAI town, so variety of restaurants are not available.

Extremely Disappointed. This is a cheap motel

Posted 24-Feb-2015
Pros: Shower curtain had a map of LA....
Cons: double slash the prices
Location: 40 min Hiking Hollywood blvd towards Dolby Theater.
Description and pictures of the hotel give a wrong impression about it's quality. First of all it's location is not near the walk of fame. It is 40 minutes walk to a Chinese Theater or 20 min drive and parking search. Cheap motel rooms, no carpet, no soup, floor creaking when people walk a floor above. No hotel parking if you come late at night.

Ok for overnight stay

Room is outdated and has a musty smell. Towels are a little rough. Front desk person doesn't even seem to care about guests. Ok for overnight stay.

Convenient location, reasonably priced and clean

Posted 22-Feb-2015
Pros: Staff, location and the decor
Cons: accessible pool, deeper bath tub, shower head moved up about a foot to accommodate taller people and better beds.
Location: nothing to do near by, but the sub way was steps away
When I called the hotel to confirm my reservation I was not notified about the pool being under construction, lasting for the entire week we were there. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, woke up with a back ache every morning. The bath tub and shower were not made for anyone over 5 feet tall. The room was well cleaned, throughout our stay. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The hotel was in a good location steps away from the subway. Restaurant choices were limited in the immediate area, but we found a sit in restaurant called Way Back the staff were very friendly the food was great everything made fresh the prices were reasonable as well.

Needs attention to details

Posted 19-Feb-2015
Check in clerk was not friendly and she didn't greet us when we walked in. I was in the first floor and guests on the 2nd floor were so noisy all night they were walking, running, jumping. After I reported the problem nothing was done about it. Just to top it off hotel doesn't offer breakfast. Shower curtain needs to be replaced asap.

Good location, poor beds

Posted 16-Feb-2015
Cons: Beds. Will not come back because of this.
The beds were low quality, extra firm. Nosey in early evening but ok for night sleep.

Not a Four Star Hotel

Posted 16-Feb-2015
Cons: Hotel should not have been advertised as 4 star

Cute and convenient.

Posted 15-Feb-2015
Pros: Proximity to everything. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Continental breakfast would be nice.
Location: Griffith Park/Observatory, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Barnsdall Park (Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House)
Compared to many other hotels I looked at booking, the Dixie was the most reasonable for what you get. I chose it mostly for the location (walking distance to most stuff in Hollywood, short hike up to Griffith Observatory, plus NEXT DOOR to a metro station. Staying here made it possible to get pretty much anywhere in L.A. with ease. Plus it was across the street from a CVS, Ralph's and Starbucks, for last minute items and snacks. The room was comfortable and clean. The only issue we had was with noisy neighbors at 4:30 a.m. but that's not the hotel's fault. Thin walls can only muffle so much. Otherwise, we were pleased and would stay here again.

poor hotel in Hollywood

Posted 12-Feb-2015
Pros: only location was good: it was on hollywood Blvd.
Cons: noise problem from room to room.
Location: Walking on the Hollywood Blvd st.; taking subway to travel around LA area
The room was okay but very noisy. Our room was connected to a door to the next room and we can hear everything from the next door travelers. My friend could not sleep since the people in next door had a party and heavy drinking all night long. The location was okay; close to subway station but not much food choice around the hotel.
