“Super slick hotel. Looks like the ones from music videos.”
Extremely satisfied with the hotel. Everything was clean. Beware of $35 parking fee. Room smelled nice, and i had the best time.
“Supreme Relaxation”
Shutters is the perfect place to kick back and relax. Great service, great food and great location. We stayed for a week waking up to the Ocean every morning and a beautiful sunset to mark the day's end. Three great locations in the hotel to eat, drink and socialise. Staff are very friendly but not pushy and always helpful. Everyone is professional and highly knowledgeable of the hotel. Location is great for Hollywood, LA and LAX. Awesome places to run and do other sport. We will go back again next year.
“CK”
The hotel was outstanding! The staff is friendly and will go out of their way to accommodate your needs and help you. The property is well maintained. The rooms are beautiful, I al most didn’t want to leave the room . The hotel restaurants are wonderful – Coast was great for breakfast and lunch. We had a delicious dinner at Pico. The hotel lobby has jazz musicians on the weekends that you can listen to while having a drink. I also recommend venturing next door to Casa del Mar (they are sister hotels) for a different vibe (more upscale and luxurious vs. luxury beach house). They also had great ocean views that you can admire while relaxing in the lounge area listen to live music. The hotel is perfectly located, just a 5 minute walk to the Santa Monica Pier. I would definitely go back!
“Lovely stay at the beach”
expedia found us rooms for much less than the hotel direct number! partial ocean view was good. 6th floor-over pool.rooms are so homey and comfortable.People watching in lobby great. Young crowd
“An amazing experience”
We had two nights at Shutters as a "treat" to finish a four week break in USA. It was amazing. The rooms were just as I'd imaging a lovely cottage by the sea would be, right down to the yoyo and lovely books to browse. The room was very comfortable (the lovely bed very high though for vertically challenged people) and the view to die for. We had an ocean view and a partial ocean view (the partial was only obstructed by a tree, they both overlooked the pool area). The bathrooms were wonderful with a geat shower and spa bath. The service was impeccable in all areas, unobtrusive but very attentive. The concierge service managed to get us a booking at a restaurant we had been unable to book ourselves, pool attendants very happy to serve in any way, front desk staff very helpful and friendly (not always the case at high end hotels, often they are snooty). The room was clean and the housekeeping great. As one of only a couple of hotels right on the beach, Shutters has a wonderful location within walking distance of the pier, shops, restaurants and all Santa Monica has to offer. Expensive, yes, but a really wonderful, experience and one I would not hesitate to recommend.
“Santa Monica's Best”
Loved this hotel. Walking distance to almost everything. They have a great spa and workout room. The staff was super friendly. Room faced a side street and the car noise and street lights made it impossible to open the sliding door to let fresh air in. Be prepared for weddings on the weekends taking up the pool area. Not clear how to get food service by the pool area. Wonderful view, good ambience.
“Great Vacation”
Shutters on the Beach is a lovely hotel. Service was fabulous and the environment was beautiful. The lobby has 2-3 fireplaces and bar/food service. We were there in January and appreciarted sitting by the fire sipping wine. We expected the hotel to be on the beach. The main reception area and restaurants are but the rooms are in 2 buildings set back. On the one hand, we had a beautiful view of the water, beach and Santa Monica pier from our balcony. On the other, we couldn't hear the ocean over the hum of the HVAC unit which was set on top of the reception area, right below our room. It was not an intrusive noise just not what you would expect to hear when you can see the surf. The rooms are gorgeous.
“Great overall, but service in restaurants not up to par”
Excellent location and great overall in terms of condition of facilities and comfort. Concierge also very helpful in terms of getting us tables on short notice in great and popular restaurants. Big disappointment in terms of the service level in one of the hotel's own restaurants however.....not up to par for a hotel of that level and cost.
“Amazing Shutters Experience”
We have stayed at some great hotels around the world, and Shutters is one of the best. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly from the moment you step out of your car. Our "partial ocean view" room was on the top floor and had a beautiful view of the beach, sunsets and ocean as well as pool area. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and plenty large. The bathroom including shower and bath were awesome. They were great about meeting our every need including our baby needs. The poolside food/drink service was great. The restaurant Coast was great. I miss it already and hope to come back.
“The best”
Shutters has a wonderful, understated California casual feel to it. The rooms have hardwood floors and are filled with built-ins and books that create a wonderful ambiance. The lobby is inviting and the restaurant excellent in all respects. This is where I will also stay in LA.
