“Nice Room. Great view of breakwater, sea lions and even a few dolphins.”
Room had a special rate and we stayed two nights. Very little noice even with our room facing the ocean and with all of the sea lions barking on the breakwater. Great location to explore Hermosa and Redondo Beach. On-site dining was great. Nice wine selection. I would recommend this hotel again and would come back.
“portifino”
great service great location
“Perfect Getaway”
Great hidden location in Redondo Beach marina. Easy walk to pier and beach! Friendly atmosphere, staff and town. Seals right outside of your window! Great bargain for upscale hotel.
“Not 5 stars”
We booked 2 rooms for a 6 night stay. Our request was for 2 rooms, one with a king and one with 2 dbles preferably on a high floor since we had read that the 1st floor was not as nice. When we checked in, we were initially given 2 rooms each with a king. That was quickly changed and wouldn’t have been a problem except that it was implied that it was because of Expedia. As for the high floor, again because we had booked with Expedia, not all requests could be granted. We understood this from the booking process but we didn’t like feeling like a lower class citizen just because how we had booked. Every customer should get the same treatment. The 1st floor is not very nice with a cement wall and no real view of the open water. It was ok, and the passing boats and wildlife were fun to watch. One bad experience with breakfast room service. 2 stale croissants, uncovered oatmeal that had cooled and no coffee. Coffee came quickly and the cost was removed from our bill when we brought the dissatisfaction their attention. Their in-room dining manager left us a voice mail offering another breakfast but we weren’t really interested. (And one other side note was that it took a few days before the crumbs from the stale croissants were vacuumed.) Each room had 2 bath towels. Not enough. We asked for 2 more and were given them but the next day they were gone. Each room should have 4 bath towels. Parking valet or self for $23/day. I give them A for effort but not anywhere near 5 stars.
“ALWAYS IMPRESSED!!”
Beautiful Hotel and location. Staff is always friendly and courteous. A must stay when looking for a fun, relaxing get away!!
“Average stay”
Rooms are much smaller than the pictures suggest. Staff is pleasant enough but I wasn't impressed in general. I would stay again if I had to but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.
“Sailboats, Sea Lions, and Great Service”
The Portofino is located in King Harbor in Redondo Beach, within easy walking distance of the Redondo Beach pier and miles of beaches. It is a great location, and the service wasexcellent. The facilities are more than adequate and the rooms very comfortable, but this is no 5 star hotel. On the other hand, it isn't as expensive as a 5 star hotel, either. The bottom line is that I would strongly recommend the Portofino to people who want to be in the Redondo Beach area and have quick access to the ocean, and who don't need to have an onsite spa, plush rooms, and expensive meals.
“Best Value for Money!!”
Awesomeness is ONE word to describe!!
“new yorker in the south bay”
Great hotel...great to wake up next to the sea lions...very chill hotel
“Double beds”
We stayed there as we wanted to be close to the beach and our friends. The hotel was nice, but there were 2 double beds and the room is small. I am tall and so is my husband and our feet were out of the end of the bed & the bathroom is small, for a family of four. The shower was great and the view was great. Loved hearing the seals outside our slider door. There is no little gift shop in the hotel or a bar. Use mini bar or accross the lot for a restaurant or down to go to Joes crab shack.
