“A wee gem”
Great moderately price option for downtown LA. Walking to distance to Amtrak and public transit options (Dash bus runs past hotel and Metro stop a block aeay). Room was very clean and comfortable (beds). Some items of furniture looked a little tired (scratched/marked) but otherwise all good. The breakfast offering was very poor, cold, limited western offerings and not very good value. As hotel is located in 'little tokyo' most nearby eateries are Asian in flavour with western options nearby limited. Starbucks, quiznos etc can be found within a couple of blocks walk. Will use again when in downtown LA.
“excellent for the price and location”
Its an older hotel that has been renovated but could use some more renovation. The only structural complaint I had was the carpet in our room which clearly needs replacing. The internet was free and the front desk staff was quite friendly. We don't use hotel restaurants (really -- *all* hotel restaurants are to be avoided) so can't comment on it other than, like most hotels, the menu prices are absurd. Right next door are a dozen outstanding eateries and a dozen more within a block or two. If you're visiting Little Tokyo and perhaps Chinatown with jumps over to downtown, this is a great place to stay (and much cheaper than the Kyoto down the street). The shops, bookstores, gift shops, museums, restaurants are great fun. Note: its good to have a bit of cultural sensibility and clues to stay here (which some of the reviewers seem to lack and resulted in unnecessary problems for them). Note: The biggest problem we have is that the DASH system stupidly drops its east-west route on weekends making a trip over to USC and that area a bit challenging. Of course, the whole LA mass transit system has very strange ideas about when it should operate. When DASH runs, its great.

My husband and I like to get away at random so we decided to try out Little Tokyo. This spot was convenient and clean with an amazing view at sunrise and at night. I'm thinking of making this my go-to destination for Downtown LA
“Gem in Little Tokyo”
I was extremely pleased with the courteousness of all personnel I dealt with, from the valet parker, to front desk, to restaurant hostess. It was a perfectly clean and comfortable stay; extremely comfortable bed & pillows. I always take my own pillow from home but didn't need it this time!
“Pretty Good choice in Downtown area”

“Miyako Hotel”
This hotel is a less than $5.00 trip from the LA AMTRAK station and is very clean and definitely adequate for the amount charged.
“Sad Experience”
Though the hotel is clean, the service is mediocre at best. The employees are clearly jaded and hate their jobs. The location is terrible. The quality of the business and the dining/entertainment scene is tired and unattractive. I would not recommend staying here if you are looking for fun on a vacation.
“The service is excellent”
While this hotel is definitely designed to cater to the needs of travelers from Japan coming into Los Angeles, the service was wonderful. Every single person was friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It was also very convenient as it was located centrally but in a safe and clean neighborhood. At first we thought having to valet park would make it difficult to get in and out when we wanted, but they were always right there with our car waiting before we even walked out the door. It's an older hotel, so don't expect glitz and glam, but it's clean and well worth the money.
“Will never recomend this hotel”
If you are looking for poor service & dirty rooms then this is for you. I feel this hotel has mis-representated themselves online. The location to LA center is ok. But that is as much as this hotel has going for it.
“I would stay again.”
This hotel was not the most luxurious place I have ever stayed in but the room rate was very reasonable. The room is a bit small and could use updating, but was clean and quiet. The hotel is in the heart of the Japanese Village. Many interesting shops and restaurants. Neighborhood and hotel were very safe. Room service was excellent! Hotel is walking distance to Union Station. Staff were extremely helpful and very poliet, could not have been more accomodating. Overall good value for the money and I will stay again next time I am downtown on business.
