“Been before. Certainly not disappointed second time around”
We love this hotel. When we came to stay three years ago, we were so surpirsed to find such a reasonably priced hotel with all the benefits of convenience, cleanliness and service that you would expect in a 5-star hotel. So we came back last week just for one night on our way to Las Vegas and we were certainly not disappointed. Just the same standard of quality - including a lovely heated swimming pool overlooking the marina. One very small comment about the breakfast room: there was some confusion as to whether this was self-service or waiter service - some guests were helping themselves, but we were directed to a table with waiter service, which was extremely slow and presumably the breakfast cost more. I would have preferred to help ourselves as we remembered we did three years ago - the egg and bacon would have been hotter. Another very small point: there were some incidental signs of wear and tear in our room. A shame as just a little bit of attention to detail would have made the whole experience just a little bit better. But we will be back. It's a great place, especially the approach and the surrounding marina.
“Not too great”
Hotel was pretty dated. The location was decent if you like looking at sail boats as that is all you can see in every direction! Bed was pretty uncomfortable though. :(
“You get what you pay for”
We were in L.A. for a wedding. Stayed for 4 days. Check-in was a bit disappointing. We arrived a little early but had requested an early check-in (never had a problem from other hotels with this request). This hotel wouldn't accommodate the early check-in request. By 1:30pm, they still didn't have any rooms available until the front desk woman felt bad for us and unblocked one of the "blocked" rooms which was ready (apparently they reserve rooms for certain guests, who hadn't arrive yet). Hope she didn't get into trouble for helping us. The hotel location was ideal and easy to get to. It was only about 5-6 miles from the LAX (approximately a 10-15 minute drive with light traffic). The room and hotel were old and dated. The beds were flat and worn. We could hear every foot step from the person who occupied the upstair room. There was ample parking. Never needed to search for a space. Overall, the service was sub-par to average. The coffee maker was dirty with a lot of build-up from usage.
“Just Right”
This hotel was conveniently located to friends, Venice,LAX, and the view of the marina was nice to wake up to.
“Would use again, yes”
The hotel decor is very tired. looked to be at least 10 to 15 years old. Having said that, the staff are great from the front desk to the maid service. Very friendly and helpfull. I lived in LA for a number of years and so knew the location well. Right on the Marina Dell Rey waterfront which is about as peacefull as Los Angeles gets. Minimal traffic noise if any yet close to the freeway network. Just about every room will have a view of the marina. The tired decor is probably the main cause of of the average scores.
“Dated”

“decent hotel”
decent location, hotel clean and well maintained, but physical plant is old which is reflected in the appearance overall and how the rooms are, which makes you wonder that it should cost less. far from the ocean, but of course marina is nearby. free parking and interned are nice.
“Expensive run down hotel”
This hotel looked clean at first sight, but when looking closely you could see that it wasn't very clean. The door knobs were dirty, there were stains on the sheets and towels... Also, the mattress wasn't comfortable at all. I didn't spent much time in my room since I got in late and left early, but anyway I wouldn't have wanted to. For the price I paid, it was the most expensive 2.5 star hotel ever! Either go to a cheaper place since it will be dirty anyway, or if you can afford it, spend more for a good night's sleep.
“Good value for older hotel”
Very clean room and great, helpful front desk staff. Room cleaned up nicely during stay. Good deal overall. They could clean up the room balconies more, replace sliding door to the balcony and do something to stop running water sounds during the night (on third floor). Overall enjoyable stay.
“Mixed feelings”
The hotel staff was very pleasant and polite, however the room though it had a good view of the marina did have some flaws which included a slow draining sink in the bathroom and minimal and varying temperatures when using the shower. The room was decent in size and is probably utilized to the best of it's actual age. I would go back but if budget affords the Ritz would be the place to stay at Marina Del Ray.
