“Star service”

The service from the time I pulled up out front to the minute I drove away was nothing short of amazing. I am sure that they would have pampered me more if I asked but I couldn't think of anything to ask for. Great room and excellent food made the stay a very relaxing experience.

Area recommendations
Go West to the beach ... just minutes away. Golf course is out back and the pool too.

nice hotel in a quiet area away from beach / downtown. undergoing some construction but that didn't bother us at all. tasteful lobby, clean rooms, and comfortable bed.

“Lovely hotel”

This hotel is currently under renovations, so the management is extremely concerned that guests are not inconvenienced by workers or noise. We weren't bothered at all during the three days we stayed. The hotel has a beautiful lobby, and a fine view of the golf course from the restaurant. The wait staff in the restaurant are friendly and very professional. We entertained business associates for Sunday brunch, and they were impressed. The swimming pool is actually big enough to do laps--not one of these kidney-shaped ponds that are only big enough for a "dip." We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Area recommendations
Manhattan Beach Boulevard takes you down to the pier, which is definitely worth seeing. There is a promenade along the beach perimeter, and the town itself provides many pleasant streets to explore.

“Very Nice, but...”

It would be nicer if 20% of the hotel credit we received as part of our package didn't get sucked up by the parking fees. And mind you, we were only there one night; if we'd stayed three nights the credit wouldn't have covered it. I realize most hotels operate this way these days, but it feels outrageous that we have to pay for a "hotel" for our car, too. AND, get this--there is street parking around the hotel; but you're not allowed to park there between 2 AM and 4AM. It's not a residential neighborhood, there's no street cleaning during those hours; it's quite obvious that the hotel is in league with the city so that they can gouge the hotel guests for parking. Other than this, our stay was quite nice.

“Beautiful hotel, questionable practices. Beware of hidden fees.”

The hotel is very well maintained and sits in a prime location surrounded by decent shopping and restaurants. It's a short drive from Manhattan Beach and, at the end of the day, is a genuinely relaxing place. However, I was surprised and angered by the hotel's policies. They fail to tell you the hidden fees they tack onto your hotel bill. First, upon check in, I discovered (via my checking statement) an authorization fee charged per night in addition to your nightly rate. Also, stay away from hotel parking unless you want to pay a high rate per night (let me just say this, it's more than the daily rate for airports); which they fail to tell you upon check in. Had I known this, I would have parked across the street. All in all, the hotel is excellent but the practices are questionable.

“You take the bad with the good.”

I would definitely stay here again. The accomodations were very good, the the overall ambiance is nice. My room service breakfast was OK -- great coffee! The fruit was out of season, and quite bland. I thought I hit the jackpot when I discovered that I could ship my bulky sales samples back to my office via UPS, right from the hotel! Fantastic! Except the 1 carton and 1 tube sat on the hotel loading dock for a week before they were finally picked up. It was hard to track down the problem, because the desk staff kept routing me to Shipping and Receiving, and those folks did not return my calls/messages (two different days). I finally found a friendly voice in the Bell Captain, who took care of it, but a week is a long delay. Nice place overall.
