“Nice lobby, old rooms”
I'm not the pickiest when it comes to hotels. I just can't believe how much effort has been put into the lobby and gardens while the rooms are neglected and shabby. The tub was chipped and rusted, the ceiling is acoustic, the TV was tiny and the picture was blurry. Also - when are hotels going to realize the value of free WiFi? Why can I get online at a La Quinta but the Kyoto Grand wants to charge me $10? Overall: Don't fret about staying here if you have to, but it's not ideal if you're looking for something nice.
“Very nice place. Great deal for the money.”
This hotel is very nice and a great deal for the money. The rooms are extremely well looked after. The hotel staff is excellent. I have stayed at the Four Seasons and the Peninsula and this hotels service was on par with the very expensive places. I recommend it.
“very disappointed!”
Lots of dissatisfaction with my stay on November 5th, 2011 at The Grand Kyoto Hotel. I felt as if I was mislead by the picture advertisement on the Expedia.com website. The pictures that I viewed online are what helped me make my decision in booking a stay at The Grand Kyoto Hotel. Upon my arrival I notice what appeared to be a substantial discrepancy between the photos viewed online and what I was experiencing at that point in time. Although my girlfriend and I made the most of our trip, my in interest in returning to The Grand Kyoto Hotel or booking a hotel room via the Expedia.com website are minimal. My experiences with Expedia in the past have been excellent and hope this negative experience does not compromise my furture decisions in booking with Expedia. Thank you for your time.
“Try Something else”
This hotel is nice to the eye, the beds are comfortable and fairly clean, but the service of the staff was inconsistent. I would expect better for the price. Try some place else first, but this is an OK hotel
“excellent choice”
we stayed at the Kyoto Grand for three nights and i would go back in a heartbeat. it's convenient to Union Station and public transit and easy walking distance to many restaurants and attractions (Disney Music Hall, the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels, Olvera Street, etc.). the staff was very friendly and helpful; the room was impeccably clean. no complaints at all - we loved it.
“Great location, disappointing hotel”
The Kyoto was in a fantastic location. Only blocks from Littly Tokoyo. The lobby and bar were fairly well maintained and staffed. The room, however, wasn't much better than motel quality. The bathroom, especially, needed repair and caulking. There was visible mold. I would not stay here again.
“Not bad for the price”
It was about what I expected for the price, the room look liked someone had a fight it in though, the door of the bathroom was all cracked on the bottom and the cabinets that the TV were on were cracked and frayed in several places. The people where nice and the room was clean! It was a bit far from my venue, but I knew that going in. The woman at the parking gate was very friendly and super nice!
“Great deal”
This hotel was great considering the deal I got for it on expedia. The neighborhood it's in isn't great, but I wasn't hanging out there. I was there because of the relative close proximity to the convention center. The hotel and room was super clean. The restaurant was really nice. Great breakfasts. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would stay there again.
“Very, very Downtown L.A”
I did not expect the hotel is part of an entire village 'Little Tokyio' in downtown LA From the garden, one walks directly into an authentic japanese shopping mall full of restaurants. The hotel itself is of grand architecture, but slightly dated. No commodities like swimingpool are pressent and the large bar in the lobby is mostly deserted, except from the barman. Service is allright, but not excellent. But price/quality is more than reasonable. A Yes!
“Great Location!”
The hotel is a bit dated but the room is clean and cozy. Close to Little Tokyo with tons of dining options. Staff are nice and they offer free shuttle service to near-by attraction. Metro Red Line is just a few blocks aways.
