“Unimpressed”

Basic motel next to the freeway. Noisy and cheap but convenient to where I was going.. Cooperative staff.

“Good value for the price”

The location for the Claremont schools was excellent, and for the price the hotel was perfectly adequate. Service was above average.

“Good for mandarin speakers”

I was worried because of the bad reviews i read, but this hotel is good value. The rooms are clean and they come and change sheets for you everyday. Also the front desk lady speaks mandarin, which is a plus because my parents dont speak english. The free breakfast is reasonable. So overall I would come back again.

“never again!!!!!!”

This is the worst hotel i have even been to!!!! it was a very unsanitary and management very rude....couldnt sleep very well I beleive there were bedbugs or something that kept me awake and scratching all night....had plans to stay 2 more nights but after the first night couldnt wait to leave to another hotel...wich i end up doing...I rather sleep in my car than sleep in that hotel ever again!!!!!! and the price is too high for what you get which is rude treatment and a filthy room,,,,,,

“Basic Place to Stay”

Oh, boy. I was nervous and almost cancelled my reservation after reading other people's reviews of this hotel. When we checked in, I expressed concern about freeway noise so we were given a room with 2 queens which was away from the freeway side of the hotel even though we reserved a king which was next to the freeway. We were not charged extra. The room was clean and quiet., TV worked, coffee maker in the room and the morning breakfast was basic and satisfying. We were there to see Harvey Mudd College and this was an inexpensive place to sleep. If you're on your Honeymoon, you wouldn't necessarily want to stay here but we'll stay here again when we return to Claremont.

“Not totally impressed.”

Not musty, but a little run down. Not to the standards of other "Howard Johnson" places. The local phone calls are charged at $0.50 per local call. Housekeepers were good: attentive, changed everything everyday

“A little far away from the Claremont business district.”

It sits right on the border of the city next to an elevated freeway. It is a little hard to find initially, being behind a gas station. Denny's sits just the other side of the freeway and HJ has its own restaurant, but for most other fare you may have to drive a couple of miles

“Run Down and Dirty..Wont go back”

there was police in the lobby area arresting someone who "lived" at this hotel. the refigerator was disgusting and didnt even work even though it was plugged in. i booked this place because i thought that howard johnson hotels were nice. this one was not.

“Great for he money”

The room was spacious and nice. The outside pool is definitely a bonus. The complimentary breakfast is pretty simple an no something to build on.

“Get a room that does not back up to Interstate 10; otherwise, get earplugs”

For the price, acceptable. Get a room that DOES NOT back up to I-10, however!

Area recommendations

Claremont is a really cool college town. This is not a bad motel, but the rooms that face I-10 are really noisy.
