“Perfect for visiting UCLA and relaxing, not an interesting neighborhood, little public transport.”
In walking distance of UCLA with a relaxing atmosphere, it serves its purpose. Rooms are comfy, size bit smaller than normal size for a two double-bed room. Uber-cool bathrobes, but no slippers. Coffee gratuis in front lobby. Area is far from rest of Hollywood/LA. You are near Bel Air and Beverly Hills, but not walking distance for that. Taxi cost around $40 to go to Hollywood blvd. Cost at $60 to go to USC. Service staff very friendly, helpful, especially taxi bellhops in front!
“Great value hotel !”
Very nice staff, very nice location, trendy, the only "bemol" is the bathroom that could be a little bit more "cosy"
“Super convenient”
It was a quick visit, so I wanted a really convenient West LA location that would allow me to easily range from Santa Monica to mid-Wilshire without a car. The Hotel Palomar's "exotic" decoration scheme is a little over the top for me (I like a more minimalist approach), but the room was spacious, had a nice view, and was well appointed in terms of comfort, cleanliness, and audio-visual technology. Chilled out, eclectic, contemporary tunes in the comfortable lobby area. The Palomar's location near Westwood Village, and proximity to public transport and a variety of arts and cultural institutions, made for a wonderful visit. Being able to walk to UCLA and its surrounding amenities was a definite plus. Also liked the fact that there was always a taxi at the cab stand nearby. Found the hotel staff to be friendly, helpful, and professional. Didn't get to try the hotel's restaurant / room service because it's so close to other options. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and I will definitely consider this place for my next long or short visit.
“close to ucla”
This was a first time to stay at this hotel. I selected it due to proximity to UCLA. Everything was wonderful and comfortable and convenient. The only problem was the high charge for parking, $30 per day. This made the charges pretty substantial considering we were hardly at the room. It is a very nice place to stay though and we will probably stay again.
“7/10 for a 4 star hotel”
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Palomar for our LA visit. The staff were very friendly and when we checked in they actually upgraded our room to what she said was a better room, higher level with nice view. Although the room was nice it wasn't as good as it sounded. Overall it was satisfactory for a 4 star hotel. It was quite small and when you flush the toilet it was really loud. The walls are quite thin as we heard the room next door turning on the water, flushing etc. All the other 4 star hotels that we've stayed at either had slippers in the rooms or they would bring it up after calling for room service. Unfortunately Hotel Palomar said they didn't have slippers.
“Nice location, overall great, a couple minuses”
Having stayed at other Kimpton hotels I expect a lot - especially given the price to stay. Overall the Westwood Palomar was nice for my business trip despite the fact they would not give me a single occupancy room as I requested. The double room was small and the bed was small for a tall (6'2") person. Also, the closet door was oddly placed and hard to navigate around. The room was smaller than expected - but not too small. The shower curtain was dirty on the inside and the office chair had some weird stain on it. They took care of these issues right away when I told the front desk. Complimentary wine service in the evening and coffee in the morning were a nice plus. Location was great for all my meetings.
“great location, wonderful hotel”
very very clean and comfortable rooms, great location, wonderful hotel, excellent service
“Love Kimpton, but...”
I am a huge fan of Kimpton Hotels, but this property just doesn't live up to my expectations. The service was excellent as usual. The decor was good, not great for LA. And there was no unique, clever branding that brought the culture of the city or neighborhood to life in the hotel. The beds were awful and uncomfortable. And most of all, the hotel is mis-located. This property is wedged in the residential high-rise area on Wilshire near Westwood. There was no uniqueness...no boutique feel...this is LA....there are so many other locations in the area that are truly "Kimpton"....it's definitely NOT this one. I still love Kimpton, but I am disappointed that the brand failed with this one.
“perfect stay”
this hotel is very very nice. the beds are comfortable, the bathroom is very nice, the customer service is EXTREMELY good, when i arrived there i felt like i was meeting up with old friends i hadn't seen in a while. they made me feel very comfortable. the hotel is clean, classy, and i really enjoyed my stay.
“Fabulous Boutique Hotel in Westwood!”
We stayed here two nights over Memorial day weekend to visit my sister and had a wonderful time! The hotel is located just a few blocks away from restaurants, shopping, and movie theaters and is directly surrounded by mostly condos/homes. The hotel is extremely cute and the service was great. It is a pet friendly hotel (and there are always people walking their dogs in the area so watch your step, on arrival I stepped out of the car into a large pile, gross!) If you have a dog, bring him/her! If you don't like dogs, don't come here! The pool area is slightly awkward and not real spacious which was a bummer, but it is there and if you can grab chair, great! Also, it is pricey for valet parking...we were able to find street parking every day but there isn't a lot of parking availability since most of the residential areas require parking permits. We did have a chance to enjoy the complimentary wine hour in the lobby which was a great plus. They have 24 hour room service, I did get breakfast one day, the food was delicious and service was quick and friendly! I definitely plan to stay here again when I come to visit, thanks for a great weekend Hotel Palomar!
