“a good hotel with lots to do”
although it's in the hollywood region where i wouldn't stay again as there's not much to do (santa monica lots better), the hotel was excellent, great staff and lots of nice bars to drink in. Very good location for the area.
“Beautiful, classic hotel”
The Roosevelt has been lovingly restored and has become a classic Hollywood hotel. The lobby is worth visiting whether you stay there or not. We had a well-designed small suite that was very comfortable. The hallways are still old-fashioned--a bit dark and winding--but personally I like that. Folks looking for a brightly-lit corporate business-style hotel might find them less than ideal. The staff is extremely helpful (perhaps even a bit fawning in that peculiarly "LA" false friendliness) and we got everything we needed. We were traveling with a baby and the hotel kindly provided a crib and sterilized our bottles, free of charge. If there is a disappointment with the Roosevelt, it is with Hollywood Blvd itself, which, far from being a place to experience Hollywood, has become overrun with tour bus hawkers. In a three-block walk, we had no less than eleven different hawkers shoving brochures in our face and demanding that we try their tours of the stars homes. My advice, stay at the Roosevelt, then get in your car and leave to do your sightseeing. Note that parking is expensive at the Roosevelt: $33 a night and they only do valet. There is self-parking across the street for, I think, $24. Also note that they charge for internet... :-( The Roosevelt is close to Universal Studios, and a short drive from the LA County museum, La Brea Tar Pits, and Peterson Auto Museum. It's a bit far from the beach and Disneyland if those are the focus of your trip.
“Charm and convenience”
Beautiful old hotel, current decor is in keeping with my expectations of this hotel. Obvious nostalgic feel. Comfy bed, great water pressure. Staff friendly and efficient. Would stay there again. Location was extremely convenient.
“Amazing”
Roosevelt is an amazing hotel. So much history, beautiful decor and great location. Clean, spacious and very helpful staff.
“Hollywood Fun”
The Hollywood Roosevelt is perfectly located for sightseeing - right across the street from the Chinese and Kodak Theaters, the Hard Rock Cafe, Madame Tussaud's and the El Capitan. Also one block from the subway which will get you around the city.
“Great traditional hotel”
Its wide lobby has a traditional mood. The hotel has two restaurants and also there are some coffee shops around the hotel, so it was easy to find breakfast and light meals. You can see Hollywood sign from rooms in upper than sixth floor (but I guess about half of the rooms are located at other side of the sign). Its location is so convenient to walk around the main street of Hollywood. The price was reasonable.
“Excellent location, great service, great view of hollywood sign”
Only stayed one night, but it was excellent. About an hours drive from LAX, the location of the hotel was perfect. It was on the main strip of Hollywood Boulevard, directly across from Graumans Chinese theatre and a few steps down was Kodak theatre. Very busy strip and alot of people dressing up for tips. All along the walkways was the Hollywood walk of fame, which is directly outside the hotel. Upon checking in, staff were very helpful. Front desk was able to accommodate our request for a room facing the Hollywood sign and we stayed on the 11th floor out of 12. Bell service assisted us with our bags and were relatively quick in bringing it to our room. The room itself was fabulous, bed was king size with soft linens, spaceous with a view overlooking the main street and during the day, we could see the famous Hollywood sign. Reception were very helpful with information and were happy to help when asked. We were offered a late checkout as our flight was not due till late night, but we refused. The hotel provided free internet use and printing of boarding passes from the computer next to check in desk. No free wi-fi, however the room had a fridge and in room safe and plenty of clothes hangers. Overall, fabulous hotel, would definately stay again as close to everything Hollywood. Also only one stop from Universal studios via metro. If you are going to Universal studios visit the information desk in kodak theatre as u can buy tickets there for less and plus you skip the lines
“Good Value in a Historic setting”
Great location adn a good room with friendly staff. The walls are a little this so that noise travelled through from the pool party but all in all a great stay. the staff was really fantastic.
“Freddy”
The hotel is located right in the center of Hollywood. Last time I stayed there I was in the tower, this time we were upgraded to the newly remodeled portion of the hotel. The room was great, very chic/hip but a little noisy overlooking the pool. A little on the expensive side but worth it. didnt have much interaction with the staff so cant really rate them. There was an AFI convention going on while were were there so the hotel was very crowded, went outside the hotel to eat.
“Great times”
Loves this hotel.
