“Fantastic hotel”

I had heard a lot of good things about the Highland Gardens hotel but was told it was very basic. This hotel was perfect for my friend and I. It was right behind Hollywood blvd, a grocery shop was located at the end of the street so fantastic for picking up food and drink on the way home. Less than a 5minute walk to the Hollywood/Highland metro station taking you all over LA. There was had a good array of places to eat and shop and the hollywood stars where just around the corner. The hotels foyer was stunning, marble, white leather chairs and the swimming pool and outside garden was lovely. The decor to the actual rooms and the rooms themselves are a bit dated but the rooms where comfatable and spacious and had a lovely balcony with chairs and tables. The bathrooms was a good size. The tv had extensive channels on and a nice microwave and fridge in the room. The maid service was good and all the staff on reception where lovely and more then welcome to help us when we wanted advice on where to go etc. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to go back here if I went to LA again.

“Location great - grubby rooms- UK traveller”

I booked this hotel by reading the recommendations. The reception area is immaculate, what a shame that the rooms let down this hotel so badly. After the first nights sleep, I discovered in the morning both Queen beds in the room had bed bugs (quite a few) my husband and I were not bitten. We took one to reception, who were extremely understanding and moved us to another room, which was a suite. This was still grubby and definately needed a make-over. We had no further problems on our three night stay. This hotel is so convenient to all the attractions in Hollywood and very reasonably priced, its a shame that the rooms let it down. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

“!!!AVOID THIS PLACE!!!”

My family came to visit me from England. They booked this hotel for 4 nights and end up booking out after half a night due to a really strong gas smell, seaman stains on carpet, hairs in the bed... They told reception and they moved them to another room but it still smelt of gas. The hotel refused to give a refund for the night. I decide I would speak to the person at reception who was clueless and couldn't speak fluent English, the manager walked over and said they weren't going to give them any refund and I could sue If I wanted to an also write as many bad reviews as I wanted, she didn't care... To add to this while I was trying to have a polite conversation with her she just walked off and got in her car and left. I am still fuming over the situation and the way she treated both me and my family. I will be taking this issue to the owner and hopefully they will fix this issue. !!it's just not worth the hassle!!!
