“Not business traveler friendly”

Not a place for a female traveling on their own. Rooms open up on to open air - no hallway and no real security. Breakfast was all starch. Unable to hold or store luggage for travelers. The staff was very courteous and there was computer access.

“Convenient for the beach.”

Booked this hotel because we had stayed in Comfort Inn properties before and found them clean and good value. Nice to have breakfast included even if it was only buffet continental. Bus stop right outside meant easy access to Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach. Staff were helpful when booking tours and cleanliness of room and public areas was good. Would recommend this hotel to couples of more mature years as there was no night life close by for younger people.

Area recommendations

Santa Monica for beach and shopping. Venice Beach for a taste of the bizarre and Muscle Beach. Hollywood and Universal Studio tours, about 40 minutes away.

“Fine room, cheap, but very noisy”

The room was fine, the service was fine, the kids enjoyed the make-your-own waffles for breakfast. However, the hotel is on busy Santa Monica Boulevard. The street has heavy traffic round the clock, including buses. We had the second room in from the street, but the door was flimsy. It was very loud. The set up, where there are tables in a communal area right outside the room doors also meant noise in the room during the day.

“Please get new bedding and teach Asst. Manager some Customer Service skills!”

I chose this hotel mainly for the location as I had a job interview nearby. When I stepped into my assigned room, I got to smell that unpleasant cheap motel smell. Old comforters that had been mended, and probably an ancient carpet. A real downer, especially given that I had not paid a cheap rate. Pluses: the continental breakfast the next morning was decent. I did get a okay night's sleep-- the hotel was fairly quiet in the evening. Minuses: The biggest complaint was that when I was checking out, the asst. manager tried to tack on a small fee for the room safe, which I did not use. The charge is still on my bank acct., even though he assured me it wouldn't be. I also ordered a cab to my interview site, and instead he ordered a private airport shuttle van-- by the time it came it was too late to change it, and I'm sure I paid more than I would have had to for a regular cab. Finally, while I was waiting, he went on a loud rant against another hotel customer who was coming later and the medical facility who had referred her. Very unprofessional! I will not be staying at a Comfort Inn again.

“Price & internet”

The internet is not wireless. We have 3 computers only one can connect. It is a bit pricy compare to the hotel we stay in San Diego.

“Front Desk staff”

Pity the hotel were ler down by their front desk staff who showed no intest in visitors - they seemed to find it a chore to register us as guests This was yje exact opposite of all other stafff who were bright, cheerfull and helpful. Hotel was comfortable, clean and well appointed for the priice. However was further from the beachfront than we expected.

“Nice, basic, clean, convienent hotel.”

The hotel was right near the one of the bus stops for the Santa Monica buses, which was perfect for getting around without having to drive. I was initially concerned about having a first floor room, but the windows and doors faces a gated inner courtyard. We got plenty of light and the security that not anyone can come up to the door. The attendants at check in nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. This was a nice hotel for the short business trip that we needed it to be and would recommend it for that. We were not looking for a romantic hotel or a hotel that be a star player in our trip. We were interested in a hotel that was easy to get to, reasonably priced, and clean; and that is what we got.

“Great Value”

The room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and efficient. The location is close to many attraction and was perfect for my stay. I would most definitely stay there again.

“Bad Smelling Room”

The location and comfort of the hotel were fine but, our room smelled of vomit and dirty feet and we gently told the management that we would like a different room however, we were not accommodated and had to live with the smell for two days. The management didn't even try to have the carpet cleaned or anything. We won't go back.

Area recommendations

Santa Monica is a great city. I would recommend staying close to the beach on Beach or Main Streets.

Outdoors or beach

Santa Monica Beach is beautiful anytime of year. It's a big sandy beach with a pedestrian and bike path that goes for miles.
