“Cheap DTLA Hotel”
If you want a cheap hotel just to crash at this is ok!
“Perfect for the Price”
My friend and I needed a place to stay after a night of celebration and after dinner cordials. We entered the gorgeous hotel lobby and walked up to the concierge. She was perky and very helpful considering we were checking into our room at 2:00AM. She gladly gave us her recommendations of the 24hr restaurants in the area and handed us our key. We stayed in a room with it's own bathroom, four strong locks, and a queen sized bed. But the most amazing thing was the view. We sat on the 15th floor in a room facing Downtown Los Angeles. Call me a romantic, but the view and the room and everything about this hotel had me feeling like a bright eyed bushy tailed discovering the city of Los Angeles all over again. Yes, the only air conditioning system in the room was a ceiling fan. The only places to sit were the toilet and the bed. I can't recall a single detail about the decor. But I didn't really care. I needed a place to sleep and this hotel and that hotel room gave me a place to dream. :)
“Not impressed”
This hotel was built in 1927. The lobby which is absolutely beautiful was renovated 10 years ago. The rest of the hotel should be demolished. The rooms are tiny, there is nowhere to put your luggage, there is a tiny wash basin in a corner . Only about 30% of rooms have a bathroom and this is also microscopic. Otherwise, single showers and toilets are in the hallway. If you are lucky, your shower may be hot or warm, otherwise, it is cold. The location is an old unattractive part of town and I would not venture outside after dark. It is a $60 cab ride to the airport.
“One story to tell the grandkids, but I'd never go back”
When I told my local LA friend where I was staying for one night, giving this hotel's address, I now understand his advice to find somewhere else ASAP. The photos of the lobby and polished brass outside are accurate; however, the neighborhood is extremely "edgy", about 2 blocks outside of what appears to be the better area of this part of downtown. Once you get past the lobby, the room floors immediately disappoint (public showers, public washrooms), and then become very dated and dingy. You feel unsafe, but there isn't an apparent reason, it just has that vibe. Plus my room had 3 locks on it. The room was something out of the 60s, my sheets were and smelled clean, I got a room with a private bath, but the sink is in the shower (yes) and there is no counter or anything. There were no amenities, the TV was a very old cheap tube type, the furniture was hacked, cheap, and old. I chalked it up to experience but would never stay here ever again. The hotel staff were pleasant, nothing bad to say about that. When you come in at night they want to see that you have a key before you can go up in the elevator - a good security practice, but a shame it's necessary.
“perfect”
god bless u

“a good place to sleep”
Cecil's is a safe place to stay while doing buissness in Los Angeles. I will stay here again on my next trip to do buissness in this lovely city.
“Cheap hotel but horrible condition. Tiny room. Not Impressed. No AC, community baths”
I would not like to go back to this hotel since it is located in such a shady area. The hotel is very inexpensive but it is not worth it's price. The rooms have no AC in them. I did not have a bathroom, so had to use a community bathroom stall which didnt have any locks. The room was extremely TINY.
“Ghetto Hotel California”
I can honestly say this has got to be the most horrifying hotel experience I have ever had. The only thing great about the hotel was the front desk personnel. Even they knew we weren't satisfied about the place. First off, I got a room that was supposedly a shared bath, which I didn't know that the shared bath meant the shower and toilet stall outside where all the guests on the same floor go to! Also, there was no A/C unit in the room. I had a difficult time locking and opening the door to the room due to the damaged knobs and bolts. I recommend no one comes to this hotel unless they really desperately need a room to stay for the night... but then again, I'd rather sleep in my car if I had a choice.
“this is not hotel for holiday”
if you have to stay in downtown hotel is ok, but this is not hotel for holiday neighbourhood unacceptable
