“Danger!! Danger!! Stay away!!”
Do not stay at this hotel! Over $300 dollars was fraudulently removed from my credit card by this hotel. We had pre-paid for our accommodation through Expedia so naturally I perceiving this as an honest mistake. I tried to contact the hotel by email and phone calls from Australia - strangely enough, suddenly no staff member spoke English. I had to cancel my credit card and let the bank retrieve my money from this hotel. As for the room - it smelt of cigarette smoke despite a sign at reception warning of a significant penalty. My 86 yr old mother sat on a chair and the leg fell off. The bathroom was flooded so I called reception and struggled to make myself understood. Finally an old man with a cigarette in his mouth arrived and proceeded to use our bath towels to soak up the water, squeezing the excess in (and on) the toilet, then left. No-one disinfected the bathroom or replaced the bath towels. I went to find a cleaners trolley to get fresh towels and found a cleaner kicking back in one of the rooms with her feet on a freshly make bed smoking a cigarette and chatting on a mobile. There was a coffee maker in the room but no cups or glasses. In general, the whole place was dirty, the staff - especially the little guy with the big watch at reception - were rude and very unhelpful. We stayed in many hotels in the US and elsewhere, all secured through Expedia, and have never had any problems until we arrived in this hotel from hell ... be warned .... DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
“I shall return..............”
Great location in Chinatown and easy walk to Union Station. The hotel was nice and clean. My only complaint is the freebie breakfast which was handled by a Lotto Ticket Snack Store. They didn't really speak or understood English and very abrupt with their words. There wasn't any clear instructions or any signs directing the hotel guests to their breakfast. They did not make anyone feel welcomed, unlike the front desk clerks at the hotel. Lots of cheap eats in Chinatown and easy access to public transportation from the hotel.
“If you need togo to Chinatown...”
There is a special smell that a 2 - 3 stars hotel has. It is about the same for any chain, could be worst in some locations. You will get it in this one and even if it is not as bad as some other it will bother you to a point. But if you need to go to Chinatown, this is still a good choice. The rooms are big and clean, bedding is fine and bathroom are adequate and clean. If you like chinese food you will be in heaven in Chinatown. It is not that far from Staples center, and you may even get there by public bus. The cont breakfast is quirky, but if you are in a rush will suffice. The neighborhood clamps down early, so if not for the restaurants around, you may prefer to go somewhere else. What else you want? Luxury? Then go to the Ritz and pay for it.
“Great Experience”
I was out there for work and the location of the hotel was convient for where my work was located!
“What kind of hotel in Best Western Group?”
- Room key was not working well both for room and lift, more than two times. - Colour tone (green and red) on exterior area was a bit odd. - Breakfast was not acceptable in terms of food selection and sitting area. - A lot of non in-house guests (asian people) were sitting around in the open area of the cafe. - When my husband was walking in room, the floor seemed shaking. Just like earthquake.
“Good place to staty”
The hotel has free internet, continental breakfast, and big rooms, not ot say it is very close to the metro gold line. All of which make it a good place to stay.
“Good bargain”
The hotel room was spacious and clean. The sheets and bathroom were both very clean, which are important things I look for in a hotel room. The shower had good pressure. My only complaint is that the Internet cord did not work well, and I could not get online. Other than that, I was satisfied with my stay.
“Best Western Dragon's Gate Inn”
We stayed here for a few days, and the hotel staff were courteous and the rooms were clean. The free breakfast came in the form of tickets that you would hand to the clerk at the little convenience store at the corner of the hotel complex. The main problem we had is our room was facing Hill Street and it had a balcony. The door to the balcony had no weather stripping on it, so we heard all of the street traffic on Hill Street all night long; obnoxious car exhausts, garbage trucks in the early morning, Laker fans honking their horns on the way home, etc. It was hard to get any restful sleep for the duration we were there. If you like Chinese food, that is what you're only going to find unless you want to do some walking! The Sam Woo BBQ Restaurant around the corner on Broadway is rather delicious, but they only take cash. The only place we at during our trip that wasn't cash-only was a Burger King. Make sure you bring money! The location of the hotel didn't feel unsafe or dangerous for a 2-star rating. It might be a good place to stay if you were there for a Dodger game, but it isn't very convenient if you're there for an event at the LA Convention Center or Staples Center. There is a public bus that stops across from the hotel and goes to the Staples Center. It is about a 15 minute bus ride.
“Great Cheap Chinatown Hotel in Los Angeles”
Good, funky place in the heart of Chinatown. Everything was clean, well appointed and the breakfast in a cafe out front was fine. Lots of restaurants, chinese and vietnamese groceries and bakeries within walking distance. I highly recommend everything except the hard to get in and out of parking garage (and it was okay, except we had a long vehicle with a trailer hitch mount that didn't like the steep ramps and speed bumps).
“Wanted to stay longer”
fun fun fun
