“Mansion? I Think Not!”
Although the location was perfect for my trip, I would not recommend this hotel and would not go back. It promotes itself as a "mansion" and fails badly. . Sloppy paint jobs, carpets that are worn and appear dirty, chipped furniture and an unconcerned staff (except for the maid) did little to impress..
“estate experience”
our objective was to visit Sagamore Hill. It is difficult to imagine a better hotel from which to visit this landmark. This mansion hotel is a perfect example of a historical estate while providing solid comfort and service. The surrounding area is also impressive.
“Very romantic place, great breakfast”
I really enjoyed my stay at Glen Cove mansion Hotel.
“Less than Terrific”
Location was perfect for us; neighborhood is lovely. Once upon a time this might have been a great hotel, but that time is long past. Best I can say is our room with a king bed was quite large. But there was a slight odor. and there was a few hairs in the bathroom that weren't ours!
“No free wifi or clear tv reception. Otherwise - Wonderful!”
The Mansion is beautiful, located in a lovely area and is close to the Glen Cove Beach (on Long Island Sound) and the Glen Cove Golf Course. Surprisingly, there was not complimentary wifi in the rooms. Also, tv reception is poor. At first we thought it was a tv problem and asked maintenance to switch it out for another tv. We were informed that the wiring into the hotel was very old and spotty tv reception was throughout the hotel. Overall, the place is a must see and exceeded our expectations.
“beautiful property and mansion, with dorm rooms.”
beautiful property and main house, but there is very long hike to the 'college dorm' wings, where the decor is quite dated. overall, it's a reasonably pleasant place to stay and the service is good and attentive. parking is also a bit far from the entrance, pretty inconvenient. only moderate value, but it's a solid option for proximity to glen cove, locust valley, oyster bay, etc.
“Need to Step up the towels at pool!”
Room Service was slow and towels at pool were well worn
“Don't be fooled by this hotel wanna be”
The Glen Cove Mansion sells themselves as a luxurious hotel set amongst the estates of Long Island, where the staff puts the customers first. Unfortunately, no one told the staff this. The people who run this place think they are working at a Ritz Carlton, but they don't know anything about customer service. They claim they are a pet-friendly hotel, but when I arrived with my little dog, they treated us like we were diseased. They insisted that the dog be carried everywhere throughout the hotel. They did not want the dog walking on their lawns or their carpets, yet they still wanted a $50 payment for having a pet at the hotel. They are not pet-friendly at all. It is a shame that this hotel is run so poorly. It could be a great place, but don't waste your time or money staying here. Go to the Marriott in Uniondale or the Garden City Hotel if you want to be treated well.
“Terrible service; not as advertised”
We stayed here with the goal of holing up and enjoying a relaxing night of on-demand movies and room service. We waited ~15 minutes to check in; apparently guests of weddings hosted there take priority. We finally arrived in the room (so far away it required 3 readings of the provided map) to discover that there were no available movies-on-demand. After calling the front desk and being put on hold for 20 minutes and then rudely asked if we were "looking in the right place", they told us they would send someone "right away". We waited half an hour before I went down to the front desk myself to inquire...apparently there was some kind of "emergency" and they again promised to send someone "right away". After waiting another 30 minutes, we realized that someone had fixed the problem remotely; too bad nobody thought to call and let us know. In addition the in-room dining advertised as "all of the mansion offerings and fine wines" is actually just the pub menu. On the upside, the salad I ordered was decent. We were also excited to discover an iPod dock in the room; unfortunately that didn't work either. And the room was too far from the wireless signal to get service. Overall, the value for what we got here was nowhere near the cost, and as there also appeared to be many unhappy wedding guests lingering near reception, I can't say I'd recommend this place for an event either.
“Nor friendly at all”
Welcomed by the unfriendliest receptionist with an ordering tone of voice, giving orders on how to get to the room... Upon arrival we realize we are underground and see deadcockroaches on the room floor... Request to change room denied... Would not stay at Glen Cove again if they offered it for free..
