Poor hotel great staff

Posted 31-Jul-2014
Hotel staff where very nice and accommodating also. Hotel was poor in need of drastic make over. Bed was comfortable and tv works so that was a plus. However bathroom was very poor shower head was dirty I could not use it. Bathroom was not up to standard at all. Would not recommend the hotel. Will not be staying here again

Visit to Derry for Clipper Round The World Race

Posted 01-Jul-2014
Pros: Friendliness of the staff. Good value for money.
Cons: Other reviewers have noted that the decoration is in need of renewal. I would agree with this but this did not deter from our experience.
Location: Very convenient for the City and the River Foyle. We found carparking in the adjacent Quayside Car Park to be very convenient, but at an extra cost.
The location of the Travel Lodge was perfect for both the River Foyle Marina and for the City centre. One member of our party had her flight changed by the airline at the last minute and needed an additional night. We also had difficulty printing our boarding cards for the return flights. The staff were exceptionally helpful in sorting these problems out for us.

Much better tha typical Travelodge

The hotel was really neat, my room was larger than typical travel lodge hotels. Staff were very good at service, even stayed up for my arrival at 2.00am. Much pleased.

Odd layout and not very hospitable

Posted 06-May-2014 on Hotels.com
In a busy part of the Strand Road. Nowhere to pull in to drop off or pick up passengers. Rooms on the front are very noisy. Weird and confusing internal layout, with part floors on different levels. We were led to our room by a hotel employee and had to drag cases up several short flights of stairs. Why couldn't we use the elevators? Never did discover. Only one person on the desk, who couldn't offer much service. Free internet in lobby, but you have to pay for it by the day in the bedroom. "Continental" breakfast is extra. The rooms are comfortable, and a decent size, but I wouldn't stay there again unless I had no choice.

not fancy but great location

Great location. Very close to a lot of pubs and peace bridge. Less than 5 min walk to stone wall city core and to bloody sunday memorial. Rooms where large. Parking across the street for 2 euro. Would stay again.

Poorly Maintained Hotel

Posted 18-Feb-2014 on Hotels.com
I found that our hotel room was not it good condition. I was just expecting a basic room, nothing fancy. But the hotel didn't even meeting this expectation. It was poorly maintained with scratches and small holes, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. I could feel the wooden frame of the mattress, or at least that is what it felt like! The hotel, however, was in a good location, walking distance to all the attractions. Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again or recommend it.

Super Basic.

Posted 26-Jan-2014 on Hotels.com
I got exactly what I expected. The staff were wonderful, by the way. The room super-basic. No frills. Very tired furniture, carpeting, etc.. But clean sheets & linens. The room was too cold but they brought me an extra heater. It was quiet, which is important to me. I had some trouble with the wifi, but figured it out, and again the staff were helpful. The location was ideal. Close to the walls, the inner city, and all the sights. The price was fair.

Very clean and tidy

Just what a visitor to any City requires, after a long day sight seeing, returning to your room, clean fresh and and a long soak in the bath provided, yes very happy with the Travelodge in Derry. But being in the centre of Derry it comes with a disadvantage with party goers on Saturday nights, and the girls came back at 2.30 in the morning thank God for the wife. Tim.
