“such a lovely hotel.”
this was such a lovely hotel. it couldnt have been nearer the town bars and restaurants if it tried, the hotel staff were friendly and very helpfull, and the cleaners were brilliant. all in all i would stay there again, and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this lovely city.
“Well situated, comfortable & friendly”
No complaints at all - note that there is a free car park which isn't easy to spot on first arrival. Great location and no problems with comfort or service.
“City Hotel Derry”
Great location, wonderful staff and overall very clean. The only let down was the breakfast buffet. Not really a "4 Star" hotel but nicer than the average 3 Star.
“Nice hotel but maintenance lacking”
The hotel is a good bolt hold and has a reasonable bar and restaurant, Good breakfast. Howvere it is lacking in maintennace. Despite being just a few years old, fixtures in the rooms where damaged and not maintained, and amazingly the toliet bowl in our batroom room was not properly fixed to the floor. It moved! So there is a rather unlpeasant floor just waiting to happen. Some black mould round the bath Also note the gashtly toilet paper was the cheapest kind possible, juts one step away form wax sheets, but on a huge maxi roll that would not fit on the hiolder and had to rest on the floor. A cost saving too far that sends out a very poor message. This is a 3 star hotel working hard to become a 2 star!! Overall a hotel that could be great, if the maintenance was managed correctly.
“"Non-Smokers Beware"”
This is a good hotel which I have used several times in the past. On this occasion however I was disappointed and would recommend that at "check-in" clients ensure that the room they have been allocated is as specified on their reservation confirmation documentation. I had booked a Non-Smoking double room through my agent but it was not until I arrived at the room that I discovered I had been allocated a Smoking room which stank of stale tobacco. I was not informed of this when checking in and when I complained was told the hotel was fully booked and that no other rooms were available. The hotel did try to assist by bringing a fan and using a deodorising spray - however it was not a pleasant stay in this room. The City is a good hotel but do check at Reception that you are being allocated the type of room you ordered. I will be more careful next time.
“Thin walls and small beds”
I was in Derry for a romantic weekend with the love of my life and chose this hotel as it recommended to me, I'm not sure what put me off the most. Was it: A). The lobby that was spilling over with terrible musicians and worse singers at max decibels? B). The fighting couple in the next room that went on until 5AM and no-one able to shut them up? C). The smallest "double" bed I've ever tried to sleep in? D). The crowds of people outside smoking, drinking, fighting, bleeding and vomiting whenever you walk out the front (or side door) Whatever the reason I will never cross those doors again...
