“Great Hotel”

The hotel was a bit out of the way but a beautiful view of Hyde Park and directly across from the Park. The neighborhood was quiet and just a couple blocks away were a ton of restaurants, etc. The hotel staff answered all of our questions, and we had many, and were very helpful with directions.

“Great Location, great Hotel”

The hotel is a small, simple hotel that is close to two underground stations and is a short walk from many of London's attractions. We were there on vacation and could not be happier with our 5 night stay.

“Best Thistle Hotel I've stayed at in London.”

Have stayed in various Thistle hotels from time to time in London. Often these are "tired" - not the case here. Very good.

“very fine hotel with helpful service”

This hotel was very nice . My only disappointment was that I paid extra to get an upgrade and I am not sure it ever happened. The hotel know nothing about it. It is right on Hyde Park which made it elegant but was about a ten to fifteen minute walk from any shops or restaurants. Really a good choice if you are the type of person who wants to eat in the hotel restaurant but there aren't any nearby lower cost options. The staff was small and could not have been more helpful. You really felt like they were there to take care of you.

“Good location”

This hotel is fantastically placed for being on a short break to London being only a short walk to Marble Arch and Queensway. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The exterior to the hotel could do with some maintenance but this didn't detract from our stay. Breakfast being included would have been nice. We would definately stay again.

“Very good value”

Clean and very reasonable hotel. We enjoyed our stay there. Room was clean and spacious enough. Elevator did not always work and we were on 4th floor, this part needs improvement. Breakfast expensive so we ate elsewhere. Easy access to buses and tube.

“Nice, good enough; would go back.”

Although the address is Lancaster gate, the hotel actually faces Bayswater road. I had a room that overlooked Lancaster gate so it was quieter than one on the other side would be. The bed was comfortable. The room was nice although there was some stains on the carpet and some of the workmanship of the walls was shoddy. I managed to get most of the light blocked out but it should be a bit easier to rig this sort of thing to do so. I couldn't figure out how to get the heat to work and the portable heater didn't work. They replaced it and did not say anything about how to work the heat so I suspect that they did not have the furnace on yet. There were no radiators in the room. The bathroom was nice but I do wish the Brits would get the concept of mixer taps soon. The tub was a bit difficult to get out of and I'm fit and average height. Older folks etc. would have a less-easy experience. The fridge was useful. There's a Waitrose and a Tesco Metro nearby plus M&S and Sainsbury in Paddington. They had shortbread cookies along with the tea and coffee (and hot chocolate). Nice touch. Another neat feature I liked was the multiple light controls --at the entrance and at the bed, 4 each controlling lights at different parts of the room. The room had pencils rather than pens. They weren't sharpened nor was there a sharpener. Not fun if you are trying to write a complaint about the lack of heat.

“A reasonable place to stay”

This hotel is nice although we were a little disappointed. We had stayed in a different hotel on our previous visit that was in a different part of London and had enjoyed that hotel more. This hotel was a few blocks from a subway station which is fine when the weather is nice but challenging in the rain. Also, our bed was horribly uncomfortable. We could feel the springs. When I said something to the front desk they said,"Oh that bed must not have been replaced yet." They made it up to us by giving us a very spacious room with a nice bed, but I felt that they shouldn't be using the room until the bed was replaced. It was that bad. The front desk staff was extemely nice and polite. I would stay there again if I was wanting to stay in that part of town.
