Great location, inexpensive room

Posted 25-Jul-2014
Pros: Location, staff, breakfast.
Cons: Non air conditioned room was too hot.
Location: Ideal location.
Helpful staff. Hotel very close to all the major sites. Ideal for an early morning run down the Mall, past Buckingham Palace, over to Westminster Bridge having gone past parliament, left past County Hall , the London Eye and back over the bridge to the hotel. Great breakfast to finish it all off. Would come again as great vfm.

Ridiculously expensive

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: Location only.
Cons: Providing air conditioning & a more competitive price.
Location: Central to theatreland & Covent Garden.
Ridiculously expensive for sleeping in a single room the size of a closet. No air conditioning so extremely hot & unbearable.

Great location, helpful staff

The Strand Palace Hotel is in a great location close to Trafalgar Square and close to underground stations. The staff were extremely helpful as we arrived in London the day before the Tour De France was passing through so this affected hop on hop off buses etc. The concierge gave us a detailed map with where the Tour De France was affecting and what to do etc. The hotel is clean and rooms are comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel, fantastic location

Posted 13-Jul-2014
We loved staying at the Strand Palace Hotel. The rooms were clean and the facilities were excellent. The only thing we didn't like was the smell of fresh paint that seemed to be in our room. Luckily we could open the window so we weren't breathing all the fumes. Concierge staff were very helpful and booked us a great seat to see the book of mormon. Staff cleaners were happy and would greet you as you walked by. Reception staff were okay.

Great value and comfortable accommodation.

Small but perfectly kitted out single bedroom, very comfortable stay and very clean. Staff are extremely helpful and polite and the location is very central and ideal. only down side was house keeping cleaning the corridors and other rooms at 8-9 am (and talking in the corridor) on a sunday! a lie in would of been nice but most guests would probably be up and out!

Lovely hotel set in an ideal location 5 minute walk from Covent Garden underground station. Within walking distance to Embankment tube station, Charing Cross Train Station, Leicester Square / Picadilly and South Embankment. The hotel is lovely and clean. Rooms are spacious. Was greeted by friendly arrival and reception staff.

Not worth the cost

Posted 05-Jul-2014
Cons: It wasn't worth the money I paid.
Too expensive for what you get, especially as compared to other hotels I've stayed in (in the same area) for the same amount

Great location. Big rooms. Service So-So.

Posted 04-Jul-2014
Pros: Location and size of the rooms.
Cons: Service level. See comments above on a particular incident!
Location: Lots of Theatres and Drinking holes within walking distances. Catch some musicals!
Stayed 6 nites at the hotel from 21 to 27 June 2014. Room is relatively big and hotel location is great. Very centralised and within walking distances from Underground Stations, Soho, Covent Garden, various drinking holes, musical theatres etc... If don't mind walking longer distances, even Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Big Ben, London Eye are all within walking distances... However, service from staff leaves a bit to be desired for... Staff can be a bit brusque/rude when talking to you. A particular incident came to mind: on the second day of our stay, we had left our towels in the tub to be changed by housekeeping. Upon return to the room that evening, we noted only 1 fresh set of towels had been left in the room. Calling housekeeping for an additional set, the person on the line commented to me, "you are giving us so much work...". Didn't expect them to give such a comment to a guest directly!!! It would fair if they had advised to reduce changes for environmental reasons but this type of comment was not really nice to give to a guest...

Nice hotel in the center of everything

Posted 01-Jul-2014
Pros: Cleanliness of hotel room.
Cons: Cost was high probably due to location; the room was clean and nice, but not equal to the cost.
Location: On the Strand in central London - walked to most things.
Hotel staff was helpful with adding a couple extra nights due to flight cancellations. Comfort was good.
