Contributed to a special two days

Posted 18-May-2015
Pros: a) Pleasant, efficient, effective staff. b) Things WORK. Reception got me a room on the top floor (My request) But elevators fast, so no hassle
Cons: No complaints.
Location: Very convenient for Trafalgar Square, Whitehall. Somerset House/ Courtauld. West End.
I was up in London for something very special I had been looking forward to for a long time. Decided the occasion warannted staying someplace nicer than the "economy" hotels I usually use. I'd stayed at the Strand Palace previously, and decided "this is the one"... and was not disappointed

Nice hotel central London

Posted 15-May-2015
Cons: Costs far too expensive!
Stayed in a single box room, not big enough to swing a cat and at £190 per night, that's a lot of cats!! Ideal for central London but how can they justify this cost is beyond me.

Great location and good value

Posted 13-May-2015
Pros: Location, service, value.
Cons: Room sizes, air conditioning.
Location: Near Royal Festival Hall, Covent Garden, some theaters, restaurants, London School of Economics.
While the single rooms are very small, the double we had was small but functional, and even had two comfortable easy chairs. There is no air conditioning in the hotel rooms, which we did not need in May, but may be an issue in the summer. The hotel staff is accommodating. Close by are theaters and restaurants. We were able to walk to most things we were interested in. This is a full service hotel with a concierge, which is most helpful for getting tickets, tours, etc. I recommend getting breakfast included in the room price if you want a large buffet with hot food. Otherwise, there are small cafes nearby that serve continental breakfasts more cheaply.

Pros: central location
Cons: more attractive lobby
Location: close to National Gallery and Courtauld. Also to Covent Garden and the opera house.
surprised by a $20 charge for checking in a couple of hours earlier when the room is empty. otherwise, very good freshly redone room, helpful staff, walking distance to a couple of my venues.

The London Eye.
