“Debby - St. George Hotel”

Although some initial problems with check in due to language problem, the lady on reception had limited English, and she couldn't find our reservation, once this was resolved by the arrival of her daughter, everything proceeded smoothly. The hotel was in a nice area, was clean and comfortable and I would stay there again.

“Disappointing”

Room was located up 9 flights of stairs (95 steps in all) which were difficult to negotiate with luggage - no warning had previously been given about this. We had a triple room and were very disappointed with the size - we had to squeeze past each other constantly. Bathroom (well, shower room) was tiny and the sink didn't have a plug. The promised 'satellite TV' only seemed to show 2 English-speaking channels and one of them had a constant orage cast. Room was a bit cold but there were no tea/coffee making facilities, so we couldn't even warm up with a hot drink. Overall, a big disappointment.

“Clairvoyants Welcome”

Check in took ages and the guy behind the desk obviously didn't care. You have to pick up your TV remote at reception - but you are not told this until you read the information on the back of your room door! Expensive for what you get - not so much of a hotel as a series of adjacent houses.

A lot of the staff were not a friendly bunch who should perhaps work in an industry where they don't have to speak with customers.

“Lovely service despite poor facilities!”

The staff are really friendly, good servvice, and the breakfast is good. Shower broken, window not able to shut, and sheets (no duvet) - so quite an experience! The hotel itself is tired, and needs investment in maintanence. Wi-fi is adequate (although £2 extra).

“Never to be repeated”

I have never stayed in such a small room - 5 feet by 9 feet - with a hole in the bathroom door and shower head designed to trickle. The bed creaked and had blenkets rather than a duvet. Wireless internet is £2. THe decor in the room and on landings is drab.

“Do not stay”

I paid a lot for two nights and have to say that their is not a good thing to say about this hotel. Room was old fashioned and lacks any facilities only found the note on back of door about TV remote and drinks on last day. No tea or coffee in room, bed was uncomfortable and had only blanket and through on it, TV did not work and had useless picture, wardrobe had crack in glass at top and the hangers were a mixer from what look like past guests had left behind. Bathroom shower did not fit in fitting correctly one of the towel rails was on the floor next to the toilet, no shower gel or shampoo, which at the price I paid I would expect and would get in a low-end B&B. Breakfast was simply inedible and I did not go back on second morning. I would not and could not recommend this hotel.
