“Always return to the Rookery”

The Rookery has charm, comfort and excellent service. The rooms are homey and very comfortable. Wireless is free and the "honesty" bar is cozy and comfortable for drinks to take on the "honors" system. I love staying here and always return when I'm in London. It's 2 minutes walk from Faringdon Station.

“Something different but worth a try!”

The hotel was in a good city location - albeit initially a little hard to find - its pretty low key. Pleasant service, nice room with good amenities.

Area recommendations
I generally like Soho because it is central and lots of good places to eat and shop.

“A fantastic step back in time”

The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous, they really made us feel at home, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was beautiful and the guest lounge with free internet a wonderful spot to unwind. We found ourselves to be central to everything. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful hotel.

Area recommendations
So much to see so much to do. Where do you start in London? I don't have a particular neighbourhood preference but I recommending picking up an A-Z and walking as much as possible. Walking along the Thames is great with many of the 'tourist attractions' close by. Particularly enjoyed the Borough markets and the walk along the Regent's Canal.

“Be sure to ask for a room with a shower.”

Very nicely appointed but because of the lack of central air conditioning be certain as ask for a room away from the street or courtyard as street noise will keep you awake on warm nights when the windows need to be opened.

“I will always stay here from now on when visiting London, there is nothing quite like it!!!!”

It was like stepping back in time to when London was not so busy. It's an Oasis of calm and nothing is too much trouble for the attentive, friendly and ever so helpful staff. I will miss the deep role top bath until my next return!!

Area recommendations
A great place to stay for visiting the whole of London a real oasis of calm after a hard days work or busy day shopping!

“Not impressed”

While the Rookery is an interesting hotel, our room was extremely small and dark. The front desk did nothing more than show us to our room. For the price, I do not think this was a good value, although it was our first trip to London.

“We will stay here again!!!”

This is a charming, well maintained and run hotel that is NOT run of the mill. We enjoyed the history and character we found here. The staff went out of their way and responded quickly to any request and were happy to hear about our adventures. Convenient to the tube and therefore all of London! We've already recommended The Rookery to our friends.

Traveller's tip
If you are using the tube and/or bus system be sure to buy an Oyster card - it will save you lots of money!!

“First Class”

My partner and I stayed for three nights - a short break to see a few gigs. All the rooms are well appointed and individual (named after a local character). Our room was opulant if a little dark and the plumbing was interesting but perfectly functional. For the girlies there were Aveda products in the bathroom and for the boys a fully stocked mini bar with a good selection of snacks. No worries if you run out of anything, you just pop to the honesty bar in the conservatory and help yourself! Or there's an M&S 30 secs round the corner! There's no restaurant but you can order breakfast or room service which is always more expensive than popping out to a local eatery so don't complain about the price - it's your choice! The staff were helpful and courteous at all times and were happy to look after our bags once we checked out so we could go off and enjoy an afternoon before heading to the airport. I would recommend this hotel and will certainly be back soon.

Traveller's tip
Very handy for Smithfield and all number of eateries but at the weekend it's pretty quiet as it caters for the Monday - Friday business community. Saying that Smiths of Smithfield is always busy!

“I love this hotel!”

Just simply a charming place to stay in London. It doesn't "feel" like a hotel. It feels like you've been transported to another era. I recomend this hotel to anyone looking for something different from the "mass" hotels that most people stay in.

“Lovely but LOUD”

The hotel was lovely. Unfortunately, I was woken by singing/shouting/talking men in the street outside at 6:45am on a Sunday and the noise continued more or less constantly for the rest of the morning. I'm a pretty sound sleeper but even I couldn't sleep through this.
