“not 5 stars”
The reception staff were very unhelpful when they were not able to provide the twin room we had reserved. My adult daughters had to share a double with a camp bed. The hotel offered no compensation for this at all. Cocktail bar was empty and souless at 7.30pm on a saturday night,(despite being told the hotel was full) although the waiter was pleasant. Was never able to get a concierge to answer the phone, as they were never at their desk. Breakfast was mediocre, with fruit looking as if it had been prepared the night before. Great location but definitely not a 5 star hotel, and not worth the money
“Great Hotel!”
Throughly enjoyed my stay. Nice rooms, helpful staff and a great bar! Overall couldnt have asked for more.
“Stylish, pleasant, conveniently located”
Very stylish hotel two blocks north of Marble Arch. Smallish room, but manageable for two people, nicely appointed. Service was polite and eager, reasonably competent, but lacked the polish and professionalism found at top flight hotels. The overall impression was of a good hotel striving to be better, but not sure whether they'll make it or not. We did find the scented candles in the lobby a bit overpowering, eye-watering for anyone and a positive hazard for those with asthma. But a very pleasant place to stay, and considerably below the going rate for a good hotel in such a good location. We'll be back.
“Very Impressed. Great Location for London shopping or for seeing the sights.”
Excellent location for shopping. Centrally located. Walking distance to some of the London sights. A short taxis ride from Paddington and the Heathrow express. Room was on the smaller size, but very clean and very well appointed. Good exercise area / spa. I am frequently in London and this hotel will now be my first choice.
“Perfect Location”
The hotel is very conveniently located both for traveling on foot and subway. It is very easy to reach Marylebone and Mayfair; also to Knightsbridge, Soho and soforth by just walking. There are a number of very nice restaurants, bars and cafes nearby. The hotel is recently rennovated in an understated, modern way. Although the room was really a bit small for accommodating two people, it is up to you to call it either cosy, or suffocating. The noise in the corridors started at 5 in the morning but maybe it is not so unusual for weekdays. Overall I was very satisfied. I might consider restaying there in future time.
“Beautiful hotel in London”
We had a great stay at the Montcalm. We were allowed to check in early and our room was upgraded. The staff is very professional and very helpful. The rooms are small, which is true all over Europe, but they were comfortable, clean, and very nice.
“Poor service”
Last week I booked a double room for one night with this hotel. However, when I arrived I was DOWNGRADED to a single room due to a booking error (not sure whether it was a hotel fault or Expedia). The single room was a size of a shoe box with an extremely uncomfortable very small bed. in addition , the TV remote control was missing. In order to compensate me for this downgrade I was given a voucher for a drink at the hotel's bar, which i did not have a chance to use and was giving a free breakfast that had such a limited choice I could not believe. Overall, in my view, the compensation was not adequate at all. The hotel has not proposed any another remedies for all this inconvenience. Will never use this hotel in the future.
“Well appointed for a leprechaun.”
Lovely Hotel, lovely service and great location if you are a little person. The rooms are tiny and so are the beds.
“Great boutique hotel”
Great boutique hotel...everything well maintained and the staff was wonderful.
“Not Impressed”
I have stayed at this hotel twice and have been disappointed both times. The hotel overbooked themselves and tried to tell me that i no longer had a room, even though i had booked months in advanced and had already paid. Their solution was a tiny shoe box sized single room, for the same price as a superior room that i had paid for. when i refused this room and asked them to put me in another hotel, they suddenly found my original room for me. then i found out the half the room service menu was not available and the spa service was fully booked, even though i had been told by the front office that there would be no problem. overall i am greatly disappointed by this hotel, and while it is in a good location that does not make up for the many problems.
