“Great Hotel in a great part of town”

Wonderful hotel and staff, but if you're a guy it might take you a while to get a drink at the bar.

“Great hotel in a Great location”

I was visiting to with my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday. I wanted a hotel with a trendy (young) feel that my daughter would enjoy but yet professional that I would not feel out of place. The Mayfair had a wonderful balance, and we loved their location within walking distance to great shopping and dining.

“very central for celeb lookout!”

Really enjoyed our visit-very central for all the exciting places you may wish to visit. Very impressed with foyer, bars etc-only disappointment was the size of the bedroom. I did think for the money it would be a little but more spacious. But would definitely go back if visiting London.

“Wonderful service and value. Well worth it!”

A quick stay took me to the Mayfair, after arriving at about 9am after a long flight we were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready and waiting fopr us. The service was excellent, we were even escorted to our room and walked through it. The ambience was lovely, the room was modern and spotless. London hotel rooms are never large but you can't expect that in a big city. Across the rd from Green Park tube, handy to everything and handy from Heathrow. Whilst I don't normally eat at a hotel as it seems a bit narrow to do that in a big city, we had friends meet us there as it's pretty hip. We booked a table and were blown away by the fast service and lovely ambience. The hotel even allowed us a later checkout in light of our later flight and lent us an umbrella for the rain. Great value and impressive service. Would return without a doubt.

“WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED”

IT WAS HARD TO FIND. HAD GOOD BUS AND UNDERGROUND LOCATION. DID NOT THINK THE HOTEL WAS WORTH THE MONEY. THE ROOM COULD HAVE BEEN HAD ALITTLE MORE TO IT. THE BATHROOM WAS SMALL AND YOU HAD TO MOVE THE MAT TO OPEN THE DOOR. I KEPT BUMPING INTO IT. NO HOOKS TO HANG ROBES, NITEWARE OR TOWEL ON. THERE WERE NO DRAWS IN THE NIGHT STANDS OR IN THE BATHROOM. NO ICE BUCKET OR LUGGAGE RACK. IT JUST DIDN'T SEEM LIKE A 5 STAR HOTEL. WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. THE STAFF WAS EXTREMELY NICE AND HELPFUL.

Area recommendations
BATH WAS INTERESTING. THE CITY OF LONDON HAS SO MUCH HISTORY.
Getting there
WE MADE OUR TRANSFERS ON THE INTERNET BEFORE WE LEFT. THEY WERE THERE AND ON TIME.
Shopping
THERE IS SO MUCH SHOPPING. STORES EVERYWHERE.
Nightlife
WE SAW A PLAY IN SOHO. WHEN WE LEFT ABOUT 11 PM THE STREETS WERE PACKED WITH PEOPLE. THERE SEEM TO BE EVERYWHERE. THINGS ARE EXPENSIVE SO HAVE SOME CREDIT CARDS WITH YOU.

“Poor view”

We booked this hotel specifically to dine in Quince for our Anniversary. While the hotel itself met with our expectations, we were extremely disappointed to have a view of the kitchen fans which also disturbed our sleep. I was involved in an accident on arrival at LHR and not being able to rest peacefully in our room was most annoying. Lunch and Dinner in Quince was superb and we will definately be back for that. Breakfast on the other hand was nothing special and I was presented with the worst eggs benedict I have ever tasted. So glad we booked room only.

Area recommendations
Mayfair is an ideal location for walking to Buckingham Palace. Green, St James and Hyde Parks. There are lots of little bespoke shops, Fortnum and Mason and only a short tube ride to Harrods

Dear Reviewer Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel which is much appreciated. I am truly disappointed to see that you did not enjoy the view from your bedroom. Although we are very much surrounded by other buildings, we do still have the capacity to offer some really nice views and hopefully on your next stay here in town we can offer you that option. With specific reference to the area you mention in your review, we do have planning application in place to turn this into phase 3 of quince which will see the area transformed altogether. We will look forward to serving your eggs just as you like them on any return visit. On a more positive note I am delighted to see that you enjoyed Quince which is proving to be a really popular choice. Thank you again for taking time to review the May Fair Hotel.

“Not satisfied”

The May Fair is being remodeled, so it has no restaurant for now. Breakfast is served either in the Ball-room or in the Bar. We had asked for connecting rooms since we were travelling with two children, but not only there were no connecting rooms available, we had to spend the first evening in different floors!

Comment from the hotel's management
Dear Reviewer Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel which is much appreciated. I am pleased to report to you that our new restaurant opened some months ago and apologise you did not like the choices otherwise made available whilst we were launching our new restaurant. We do of course have a host of connecting bedrooms and also family bedrooms available, it really is a shame we did not have the correct configuration for you as requested. We do hope that you will stay again soon, please allow us to reach out to you should you be coming back to town. Thank you again for taking time to review the May Fair Hotel.

“Will never stay there again”

Almost everything in this hotel is below five star standard. The bathrooms has only bath tubs that are so deep it is a struggle to get out of, while water seeps out while one showers. The TV is tiny and has very limited number of channels. The elevators are antiquated and takes a long time to arrive. The breakfast room keeps changing from day to day without warning, and quality of the food is below standard. The overall color scheme in the rooms is so pale and depressing, and there is lobby in the hotel to meet guests. I know now I will never repeat this experience.

Comment from the hotel's management
Dear Reviewer Thank you for choosing to stay at the May Fair Hotel recently. I am most grateful for your comments and feedback following your stay. Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay with our reply to you. It is unusual to receive a comment regarding the height of the tub in our bedrooms although I am pleased to say we do have options for you should you be returning. I am pleased to report to you that we are already softly refurbishing our bedrooms and guest floor corridors well ahead of schedule given we officially re-launched in 2006. We are introducing a touch of colour to our bedrooms at the same time. We do already offer no less than 120 free TV channels to choose from in our guest bedrooms. It is concerning that you found the breakfast buffet of poor quality, a newly expanded and much improved buffet breakfast served each morning commenced in May and we hope that you will be able to experience this on a future stay. I do hope that you may have the opportunity to visit us again. Once you have booked on Expedia please do let me know, it is our pleasure to assist in making your next stay to town as pleasurable as possible. Thank you once again for taking time to review the Hotel.
