“Buckminster Hotel, London”

Terrific location, not only for British Museum, but for the entire West End. Unless it was raining, we always walked back to the hotel from a West End theatre, and the National Theatre and the Southbank Complex were a quick bus trip, with a stop just a short block from the hotel. Executive Suite was quite spacious. My lower mark for room comfort is probably idiosyncratic: the bed was too hard for me, and I habitually woke up a couple of hours too early with a very painful lower back.

“A true find, will definitely be back”

Carpet could have been cleaner; sofa bed was disastrous; basement room was airless on hot days; but the staff was courteous, attentive, and overall impression was highly favorable. Bathroom was far better than average, bed was comfortable, having "kitchen" sink, refrigerator & microwave was an extra bonus. Location can't be beat, either. I definitely will be back, and will recommend it highly.

“A london room with SPACE!!”

Large room (20x30), king bed, lounge area, frig and microwave. 2 blocks from British Museum, but 1/3 mile to Russell Square Underground, not 300 meters as advertised. Walking distance to theater district. Staff courteous and helpful, continental breakfast satisfactory. Spent 9 days there and enjoyed it. Saved a little money on meals by buying at local stores and making lunch in.

Extremely well maintained, safe area, comfortable bed. Rugs in hallways looked new and bright. Desk personnel were helpful and courteous. Completely satisfied.

“Great location and service”

My wife and I stayed at the Buckingham for 6 nights on a vacation to London and Paris. The location is great -- out of the way of all the hustle and bustle, but an easy walk to all the sights. The street the hotel is on is very quiet. A less than 5 minute walk to two different tube stops on the Picadilly line (which goes downtown, and directly to Heathrow which is much more convenient and cheaper than the Heathrow Expess). Also only one stop from King's Cross, which made access to Luton easy for a quick hop to Paris. Hotel is also a short walk from Leicester Square and Tottenham Court Road. The hotel itself is nice, with friendly, helpful staff. The beds are a bit firm, but fine once you get used to them. Was extremely happy with the nice big bathrooms and the kitchenette in the room.

“Very Impressive Hotel in a great location”

We originally booked this hotel on the basis of the customer reviews, and we were not disappointed. The service and cleanliness were excellent and the room we had (a double room with lounge area and patio!) was superb. The location is excellent and close to the heart of the west end, but is also quiet and peaceful in a well kept area. Highly recommended, we will return on our next visit to London.

“Comfortable Stay”

Just got back from 3 days in London and must say I enjoyed my stay at the Buckingham. Deluxe room was HUGE, clean, very comfortable bed and pillows. Shower/tub was hard to step into, just as a previous post stated. Only problem was that I had requested 2 beds (which was a booking option through Expedia), and hotel said that they didn't have 2 beds in ANY of their rooms! Not sure if hotel or Expedia is to blame for the misrepresentation. Instead, they had a pull-out sofa, which was in horrendous condition and unacceptable, so I had to sleep in the queen bed with my companion. Fortunately the bed was great. Room was street-facing, but street wasn't noisy at all. Location was relatively close to two tube stations - Holborn seemed closer. Felt safe walking in the neighborhood at night. Staff was useless with sightseeing and specific street/city info, but very accomodating otherwise (got us a taxi in 2 minutes). I would stay here again.

“History comes alive.”

The Buckingham is a terrific small hotel located in a historic area of London. It is near many restaurants and shops and is a convenient walking distance from many of the London tourist attractions. Beautiful parks are nearby and are excellent places to enjoy the day when down time is needed! The hotel service is well done and friendly--- but note that it is not air conditioned.
