We only stayed there because we were catching an early flight from Gatwick the next morning. It's very convenient for that.

Had I paid full price for our 2 rooms I would have been disappointed. Luckily we booked through Expedia. The rooms looked tired decor wise & dressing table was tatty. Bed far too hard to get comfortable & with the air con being the noisiest I've ever heard my nights sleep wasn't the best. Very expensive restaurants & bar, with the breakfast at £19.50 per person we decided to eat elsewhere......at the airport in fact.

Nice hotel at the airport

Pros: Had everything you needed for a short stay.
Cons: More effective air conditioning.
Location: Great location for Gatwick North Airport.
Stayed overnight before catching an early flight next morning. Arrived very late and went straight to bed. Only minor issues was that the room was very warm and the air conditioning didn't seem to cool it down so I found it difficult to drop off to sleep because I was too warm.

Had no bath robes limited Internet access bit expensive but you are at the airport in Thailand now in 5 Star less for 3 nights and far better facility

Easy access to Gatwick North

Pros: Access to the airport without the noise
Cons: Bigger bar area - getting a seat was like filling dead man's shoes
Location: Good stop-over point
No problems really, but bar area was a bit small for the size of the hotel

Right by North terminal, but 5min tram to the south terminal as well. 3 restaurants on site, tried the Oriental, very good.

My business requires me to stay at Gatwick at least twice per month for a minimum of an overnight stay, often longer. I have sampled all of the hotel options available to me close to the terminals and I have been staying at the Sofitel consistently 1-3 times per month for more than 3 years. The level of quality and detail at Sofitel Gatwick I feel is just not apparent elsewhere at the airport. The front desk, the rooms and the interaction with the staff is excellent. This is a very busy property, but they manage to keep a level of quality and refinement that I have not seen elsewhere at Gatwick. However, it is probably the quality of the food at The Brasserie restaurant that keeps me coming back...I have spent 30 years in the food industry in the USA & Europe and I am certain that the food experience at The Brasserie is of a level of quality simply not available anywhere else at Gatwick....or in my experience at Heathrow. There is no doubt in my mind that the Brasserie could be placed in Mayfair or any prime West End location and based on the consistent quality of the food and service would be a destination restaurant...it is really top draw. The wait staff are attentive and seem to realize they are are working with a really top Chef and kitchen crew... I highly recommend the Sofitel Gatwick experience.

Excellent Hotel

Pros: Almost everything.
Cons: The coffee at breakfast always tastes a bit like mud. Breakfast is very expensive but the selection is extensive and the buffet excellent.
Location: The hotel is located in the north terminal and is only a 4 minute walk through the terminal building from arrivals and departures.
Staff are always polite and helpful, the rooms are impeccably clean and the variety of restaurants on offer is pleasing.

Pros: Very Comfortable bed and excellent amenities
Cons: Hotel was full and all restaurants were over subscribed, couldn't get a table for over 1.5 hours, so used room service instead.
Ideal for airport departure as terminal is just across the road.

At Gatwick - great for early morning flights!

Our flight back to Vancouver from London left from Gatwick, and that airport is a taxi ride and a train ride away from the center of the city. We decided to move out to the airport a day ahead as our flight had an early departure time. The Sofitel is modern and very clean with a very professional staff. We appreciated the ease with which we were able to locate it, as signage at the airport leads you right to the front desk! The bed was very comfortable, the wake up call reliable, and we were on our way. Thanks Sofitel. We hope to return another day.
