Good for overnight stay at Gatwick

Posted 17-Apr-2014
Pros: Convenient, good facilities, efficient, comfortable.
Cons: Why is wi-fi not free? It seems the more expensive the hotel the more likely they are to charge. No radio programs on the TV.
Location: It's Gatwick Airport!!
I stayed in this hotel overnight after arriving in the evening and caught the Gatwick Express into London for a meeting the next day. It's just a short walk from Gatwick's North Terminal, so very convenient if you need an overnight stay at the airport. It is a typical 4* hotel with all the facilities you'd expect: large clean rooms, friendly efficient staff, TV, tea/coffee making, good quality breakfast, very large hotel. It's more expensive than the big Premier Inn next door, but has higher quality. I only discovered at check-in that breakfast had not been included in my deal, but they blamed my 'agent' (Expedia?) for not offering it. I got the reduced rate though, by paying for it then.

Comfortable on airport overnight stay

Posted 15-Apr-2014
Pros: The rooms were quiet, the bed big and so comfy, and had lots of pillows to sink into.... I slept well...
Cons: There was a welcome tray with coffee and teas to make hot drinks, but no biscuits were provided. Nor was there a small bottle of mineral water.
I checked in at 11pm and checked out at 5am for my next flight, so not long in the hotel room. It was quiet, clean and had a lovely comfy bed, so I slept soundly. My early morning call was on time, by phone, then backed up after 10 minutes with a knock on my door. Yes, it was 4.15am. The shower was lovely and decent toiletries were provided along with big fluffy towels. When I checked out, a helpful member of staff loaded my two suitcases on to an airport trolley and offered me directions to the airport check in area.

Very convenient for North Terminal

Posted 14-Apr-2014
Not cheap but extremely convenient for North Terminal flights at Gatwick. Rooms quiet despite being in the middle of the airport and beds very comfortable. Restaurants very expensive though.

Night before holiday

Posted 02-Apr-2014
Pros: Nice ambience.
Cons: We couldn't find any fault with the hotel.
Location: As the hotel is at Gatwick airport and we only stayed for one night we didn't need to find anything outside.
We wanted a comfortable to stay prior to a long haul flight and the Sofitel fitted the bill perfectly.

Makes travel so easy.

Posted 01-Apr-2014
Pros: Room comfort level, good beds and linens. Proximity to airport
Cons: A cheaper breakfast option would be good.
Stayed here the night before travelling and then again the night of return after a 14 hour delay in the flight. It made the journey so much easier to just walk over to a hotel after arriving. Room was very comfortable and quiet. Staff excellent.

Airport Hotel

Posted 22-Mar-2014
Pros: Room: an adequate size and all the facilities were there. Hotel facilities, Lounge and general ambiance ; all so pleasant.
Cons: If being picky, perhaps the shower head could be a high pressure rain shower head ...
Location: Airport Hotel - good restaurants at the hotel too - tried previously but no time on this occasion/visit.
Stayed here before a couple of years ago, has improved since then; excellent location, extremely calming and peaceful with just what we needed to relax and 're-group', ready for our flight the next morning. We paid extra for a luxury room with Lounge access, which was well worth it.

Nothing special

Posted 14-Mar-2014
We booked here expecting a better than average airport hotel experience. Its just another airport hotel with small stuffy rooms, teeny bathrooms, small pokey gym and average hotel. Ok, nothing special, best feature is that it's so conveniently located to the terminal.

First class hotel close to London Gatwick airport

Posted 08-Mar-2014
Pros: Knowledgeable, professional, courteous service.
Cons: Can't think of a single thing
Location: Convenient by foot to both the north ( 2 minutes) and south ( 5minutes including the shuttle) terminal at Gatwick airport
My wife and I stayed here the night before our return flight to Toronto. It was easy to find and close to the car rental return. Check-in was quick and efficient, the room was comfortably appointed and surprising quiet being so close to the airport. There are three different bars and eating places in the hotel that provided a good variety to choose from. We ate in the Brasserie and found the meal to be absolutely first class - the service, the presentation and the quality of food. The Sofitel is not inexpensive but a great place to stay for the discerning traveler.
