“A sleepless night”
A clean modern hotel, nice restaurant, spacious well-appointed room - all let down by the air-conditioning. The room was airless and stuffy, and cooling it with the aircon produced a steady roar that completely prevented any sleep. No way to open the sealed window - so we had a completely sleepless night. Not a good start to our holiday.
“good review”
good hotel
“Great Start”
This hotel is ideally placed for an overnight stay before a flight; no difficulty in reaching terminal as it is all in same complex. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable with efficient staff,as well as a good restaurant, what more could one ask?
“High quality, super convenient airport hotel”
The hotel is right next to the rental car return in the North Terminal and a very short covered walk, towing your wheeled suitcase, to check-in. Rooms are modern and very clean and comfortable. In-room kettle, coffee and tea. If you don't want a restaurant meal, get food from M&S convenience store in arrivals - it has a very good selection. Gatwick used to be a terrible airport to leave from, but with an on-site hotel and BA's refurbished departure hall it's all very easy. We will use the hotel next time we travel to UK.
“Good for short stay over”
Not a bad hotel in terms of proximity to gatwick airport and if you arrive very late. Very simple and basic business hotel, quiet.
“Convenient but needs updates”
The hotel is extremely convenient and well priced .There is no WiFi available in the rooms and also not in the lobby. We were told by the front desk that they were having issues with apple products and WiFi coverage in the lobby. Really? Never heard that before. Although we were directed to use their business centre computers it is not as convenient as usage in your own room. Dinner in the cafe was good but it seemed like a training center as we were constantly being interrupted by different staff during our meal. TV's in the room are old and took forever to warm up or change channels. One washcloth and one bar of soap for 2 people. Bed was extremely comfortable. Would stay there again but it would be nice if they did some updating.
“most convenient for Gatwick travellers”
A very convenient hotel for those using Gatwick Airport, London. In fact it is connected with it. Hotel is clean and modern but a bit 'cool' in service.
“Convenient Airport Comfort”
I knew my return flight to the UK was scheduled to arrive at 11pm so needed somewhere convenient to stop over before onward connections. Difficult to find a more convenient hotel for Gatwick Airport as this is just walking distance down a ramp from the monorail service between North and South Terminal. Front desk staff are friendly and very efficient, I think I was greeted and checked in within about 60 seconds of stepping up to the front desk. My room was in perfect condition. Sound proofing must be seriously good. Bed is amazing - deep and soft. Have stayed here before and also at the newer T5 Sofitel at Heathrow which I hold in similar regard. Haven't tried room service or any of the hotel bars or restaurants so cannot comment.
“Most comfortable bed near Gatwick”
If you have an early flight from the North Terminal this place is perfect.
“Convenient for Gatwick, but a bit exploitative”
The Sofitel at Gatwick airport is very convenient for the airport (being actually on-site), and like many airport hotels has all the amenities the tired traveller needs - in-room things like tissues and shampoos etc, and a comfortable bed, and in-hotel facilites like restaurant and bar. One complaint: the bar staff insist on serving you at a table, and taking your money from you there too, and slapping a mandatory service charge on for personal table service that you haven't actually elected. And because you're a captive at the apirport it's not as though you can easily take your business elsewhere. When I bought a bottle of water at the bar after dinner to take up to my room, they were most annoyed that I walked up to the bar for it myself (as it was a take-away item it would have been stupid to sit down and wait for them to come and serve me!) and paid for it at the bar, because they couldn't charge the service fee. That felt slightly unpleasant, and I felt a bit bullied.
