“Beautiful Hotel in a beautiful place”

It has been my first time in London. I've heard about hotels room small and not clean. But this is not the Saint Georges Hotel condition. The rooms were comfortable and clean, also quite large. We were lucky because we have had sun all week... I recommend this hotel. Patrizia Rome Italy

“excellent value”

Very Very good for the price I got from Expedia. Staff was very helpful and efficient. I recommend getting at least breakfast included. Inhouse Restaurant is very good, Price is High average for area. Ate dinner once and breakfast once, both were very good.

Area recommendations

I would say the area around the Hotel or maybe nearer to Oxford Circus. Either would put you in the middle of the "Shopping District". If they want to be nearer to the major attractions The Picadilly Circus area would be better.

Getting around

Wear good comfortable shoes that provide above average support. You will be in a very old city. Sidewalks are made of paving blocks and most of the streets are cobble stone both are very uneven and you will be walking alot. The fastest transportation is the underground but the stations are far apart and and involve plenty of stairs. Buses are half the price but are slower but you'll see the city instead of tunnels and unlike most US buses they have specific stops not every corner so you will be walking. Taxis are point to point but are the most expensive of the modes of transport and have to deal with the traffic. Take as many tours (bus and boat) as you can early in your stay to get the overall effect of the city and then target what you want to see.

“Grubby and unkempt”

Light switch was taped over and I had to scramble about in the dark to try and find a light. The first bedside light didn;t work, the standard lamp didn't work either! The bedroom door was scratched and marked and badly needed painted.The only bright place in the hotel was the reception desk.

“Bad hotel in good neighborhood”

Old, untidy hotel in a very good neighborhood. Furniture is run-down and is old. Bathroom follows the same suit. we had to ask hotel to come clean the bathroom as it did not seem that it was cleaned recently. The hotel had "four stars" on Expedia site - it is not barely 3 even if you normalize to the fact that it is London. And I have traveled to London a lot and know what I am talking about. Avoid the hotel if you can.

“Great hotel in superb location”

We stayed in a recently refurbished room that enjoyed stunning views over central London. The room was large, comfortable and very clean. The decoration of the room was tasteful and modern. The service from all hotel staff was brilliant. The location of the hotel is second to none; with a good A to Z there is no need to use public transport to explore central London as all the major attractions are close by. We didn't sample the food at the hotel because we ate out at other places during our stay.

Dining

The Argyll pub behind Oxford Circus tube station is a brilliant 'real ale' pub and has a fascinating interior.

“very good stay at this hotel”

the hotel rooms are not very big and there is not much space for the laggage. the restaurant is not very big. but the location, the neigbourhood, and the staff were very satisfactory.

“Gerat Central Economy Option”

Really central, comfortable rooms and great value. I needed a couple of days in Central London for business and this was perfect. Not 5 star but very comfortable. Very quiet and great features such as internet access etc. 5 minutes walk from Oxford St, pubs and restaurants close by.
