“preferred it to the Mandarin Oriental”
I chose this hotel based on location ( for business purposes) and the suite option ( which turned out to offer so many contemporary comforts and extras I spent an evening in..which is saying a lot in London!).I was truly blown away by friendly staff, accomodation that was perfect for my needs and an overall experience that exceeded my expectations and represented excellent value for money.I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge on my last business trip and was underwhelmed (by the accomodations)...I will be back to Plaza on the River
“A great find”
We stayed at this hotel for spring break (6 nights) with our 16 year old son. We had a one bedroom river-view suite that suited us perfectly. The room and hotel were in great shape, the staff was professional and helpful, and the location was great - a bit off the main track, but with great views and close to the tube (Vauxhall station is a 5 minute walk). We would definitely recommend this hotel, and look forward to returning in the future. The only complaint (a relatvely minor one) was that the sofa bed was a bit lumpy.
“london was great”
Very nice hotel for our business/vacation trip. Staff very nice, helpful, and professional. Room was perfect for family of 4 with 13 and 10 year olds. Kitchen was great. Not many restaurants close to hotel but was not a big issue. The small grocery close was convenient. Bit of a walk to tube(5-7 min) but was not huge issue. Extremely good value for the price. Recommend getting London Pass with travel.
“Can recommend”
Not the greatest area but very nice hotel all things considered - and good value
“GREAT”
It was great. Would love to go back some day.
“A very good 3 or 4 start hotel”
The hotel is more like a very good 3 or 4 star hotel. It is by no way a 5 star hotel. We got to the hotel around 10 am on our arrival date. We could not check in until around 2pm. The hotel workers are very great and friendly. They were very quick to address any concerns that we had. Do not bet on the washer and dryer in the room to work. The one in our room did not work. We called for maintainance and despite two visits to our room, the problem was not solved. You must be prepared to walk to the train station that is almost a mile from the hotel. If you are from the United States and are not used to walking a long distance you may find this challenging. This hotel is not too far from main attractions such as the London eye, Westminster Abbey etc. Our stay was not below our expectations. We had read the other expedia reviews of this hotel and we knew what to expect. The rooms are large and very spacious. The bathroom and toilet were very clean and room service was excellent.
“Amazing City! Beautiful Hotel!”
My wife and I stayed over Christmas and could not have been happier. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite on the 11th floor with a pristine view of the Thames, Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye. Waking up to this view alone was enough to make our stay memorable. The hotel room was immaculate other than a few stains on the carpet. Included in the suite: full kitchen(coffee maker, refer, microwave, sink), washer and dryer, two flat screen TV's, leather couch, desk etc. Needless to say we were very comfortable. The hotel breakfast is expensive so walk right down the street to a convienent store where you can buy pastries, juice, milk, bread etc. The nearest tube stop is a little bit of a walk at about 5-7 minutes but it is still pretty close. You can walk to the London Eye and Parliament in about ten minutes.
“Not Impressed”
Although i booked a room with view in the river, they gave me a room with no view at all!!!When i checked in the room was not ready and i had to stay to another room for the first night. When i was checking out there was nobody in the reception and i was in a hurry since i was late for the airport.
“Our home away from home.”
We have stayed at this hotel 5 times. We consider it our home in London. It's away from most of the tourists without feeling isolated. The views from a river view room are amazing. The restaurant is equally amazing. Service is second to none. My only suggestion is to put more comfortable couches in the guest rooms. Other than that, it's fantastic. We are planning on staying here again very soon.
“4 star hotel at best”
First of all, this hotel is very far (3/4 mile) from the nearest tube station. Second, the room we stayed in was pretty dirty and much smaller than depicted in the photos. Third, our room with a "partial river view" had a view of the abandoned building next door, the train tracks and, if I craned my neck and used a hand mirror, the river. The train tracks are very loud and the washer/dryer combo simply did not work. Other than that, the hotel is not too bad. For the price, it is a pretty good 3.5 to 4 star hotel. I wouldn't stay here again just because it very far out of the way.
