“Fantastic Experience”
My wife and I came to London from Canada for our honeymoon and we spent our last night at this quaint, boutique hotel. We had booked this hotel upon our return from a brief visit to Paris, and were immediately impressed by the service and the style of the hotel. The lobby/bar/lounge area was warm and inviting, the low lighting, the antique curios adorning the shelves, and the authentic wood fixtures around the "first impression" all added to the relaxing atmosphere we were looking for. Our room was cool and comfortable in the early August heat, and the king-sized bed provided a terrific night's sleep. For the most part, it was wonderfully decorated and laid out, the only contradiction to that being the proximity and style of the bathroom. The bathroom door was rather close to the side of the bed, and although the massive, frosted glass was striking, especially the way it slid open on old-style, counter-weighted warehouse door fixtures, the relative lack of privacy required us to creatively schedule our usage of the facilities. I'm putting it delicately, but hopefully you can discern my meaning here. Regardless of the minor inconvenience (we simply adopted the "When in Rome" attitude toward the bathroom, which was far less off-putting than our entire time in Paris), my wife and I will definitely seek out this hotel the next time we're here. As an avid reader of Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories, its location and theme were added thrills for me. We highly recommend this hotel.
“Would not go back there”
If they try to send to Mezzanine floor rooms - REFUSE OUTRIGHT - there is a furnace just by the ROOM 3 - it is absolutely like a hot spa 24/7 - very uncomfortable - dreadfully hot - our room was changed later during the stay - to the 4th floor - it was relatively better - overall experience not good. But the staff is certainly very helpful and polite - but tey can only help so much. Close proximity to tube staion - good location
“Good value for money”
This is a very good hotel, with a small bar in the lobby. Rooms are standard for a large European city (i.e. small rooms) but they tried to be accommodating and even had American power adapters in room. I would characterize this hotel like the "W" Hotels in America. Trendy, and had a bit of weirdness to it (the door to the bathroom had completely transparent see-through strips!) just to make it "exciting" for romantic travelers. I'm not sure how a family would deal with this easily (would have to take turns using the bathroom!)
“Great location”
This is a small, but nice hotel in a great location with convenient access to the subway, restaurants and shops on Oxford St. They have a nice patio bar as well as a main restaurant, although we only ate in the former. Love the neighbourhood restaurants and pubs. While nightly rates are not cheap, the hotel is good value for money.
“Good Choice”
All was just as I had wanted it to be.....Clean, people on the ball, great location, good comfortable room. We are gong back in September and will stay here again. The breakfast was very nice, but too expensive.....we will try elsewhere next time.
“Would definitely go back again!”
After traveling to other large European cities and hearing that London's hotel rooms were also small and cramped compared to American hotels, I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our room and bathroom. It was not "huge" but there was certainly room for everything, a lot of space around the bed, room for the luggage to be out on a stand without tripping over it etc. There was even room for a desk. The only thing that was a little on the small side was the shower, but we were quite comfortable there for almost a week. The room was obviously updated in a contemporary style several years ago. We weren't quite sure about the "sliding" glass door into the bathroom, but privacy wasn't much of an issue for my husband and I personally. The hotel is conveniently located 1/2 a block from a tube station. While it is not in the "heart" of the tourist areas, it is on the northern end of all the bus tours with a stop right out side of the tube station because of its proximity to the Sherlock Holmes museum and Madame Tussauds wax museum. It was an easy walk down to Oxford street too. We also found it very convenient that there was a mini-market next door, two coffee shops a few doors down and a post office right across the street. Interesting note: When I went through customs, the customs agent even commented that we were staying in a nice place. :) Made me feel much better about following the reviews from here at Expedia.
“Great Hotel/Great Location”
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were wonderful. Our room was not ready when we checked in, so my husband and I received a coupon for a drink from the bar to make up for it. The staff were all really nice. I found the hotel room to be very small, but the bathroom was gorgeous. It was very modern. We could not have chose a better location. The Baker Street subway was a minute walk away. There are plenty of little cafes and mini supermarkets just two doors down, to which we went to grab a sandwich, croissant or little homemade cakes and fresh juices before one of our early morning tours. The tour buses also stopped on Baker Street so it was so convenient. There is also a booth to purchase tour passes there, or for other attractions throughout London like the London Eye or the Tower of London. Although the hotel offered Wi-Fi (for a fee), the McDonalds next door offered it for free, and so did some of the cafes. Starbucks is also right there. Also, the hotel offered a Murder Mystery Evening with dinner which was interactive and very fun. I would definitely stay at this hotel if we were to go to London again.
“Great Location”
Nice hotel, friendly staff room was clean and comfortable. This hotel is located within walking distance (a mile or so) of Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and the prior estate of the Duke of Wellington, which is now a museum and houses quite a collection of paintings that first Duke came to own carrying out successful campaigns against Napoleon (Waterloo) and his brother
“Little bit of luxury”
It may be expensive however this hotel is a little gem hidden away on Baker St. Very comfortable rooms, nice and quiet location yet never too far away from hustle and bustle of London. I was there on Leisure and was in walking distance of MT, Hyde Park and Regents Park.
“Interesting hotel”
This hotel is built with a lot of twists and turns, up two steps and down three. It's fun. Just be careful of the breakfast charges. We thought it was included in our hotel bill and when we got a bill for $25.oo each for breakfast, we were startled to say the least. It really was good, though. Nice location, close to tube.
