Decent hotel for a night out at the Albert Hall

Posted 21-Apr-2014
Pros: The location is very good, the hotel is very clean and well presented, the breakfast is good quality and the staff are very friendly.
Cons: As mentioned above - the bed was very uncomfortable and small - couldn't sleep in that bed for more than one night.
Location: A short walk to Albert Hall, V&A, Science/Natural History museums, shopping in Kensington High Street, Kensington Palace, Diana memorial, Hyde Park.
Booked one night in the Park International for a concert at the Albert Hall - the hotel is exceptionally well positioned for the Albert Hall as well as the V&A, Science and Natural History Museums - a good location. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is very clean and well presented. The room we had (533) was on the top floor (only one small lift that we could see) - and the room was very clean and had all the expected amenities (tea, coffee, safe etc). The breakfast selection (continental) was very good - I was surprised to see a good selection of hot food available - my wife was disappointed that pancakes were an addtional charge so we gave then a miss (its not a cheap hotel so why the extra?). Anyway mostly a decent hotel - with one quite large exception and that was the bed - I'm not sure if all rooms are the same but our bed was pretty small (I'm sure its width was less than a standard double but didn't have a tape measure handy so can't verify that) - we're not big people in any way, shape or form and we found it a squeeze (my feet hung off the end of the bed and I'm 5'7"- gives you an idea of its proportions). It wasn't just the size of bed it was also very uncomfortable - the mattress springs were very prominent and didn't allow for a good nights sleep - this is either a very poor quality mattress or a very old and worn mattress. This was just about ok for one night but we couldn't have slept in this bed for any more than that.

Great location, clean, and a nice place to stay

Posted 14-Apr-2014
Pros: I liked the newer feel to the hotel interior, as well as the courtesy of the staff from the concierge, front desk, to the staff in the breakfast room.
Cons: I found the bed a bit uncomfortable, I think a bit higher end mattress would do the trick.
Location: Great location, a couple minute walk to the Gloucester Rd tube. A quick walk to a few museums and good options for food/groceries nearby.
I stayed for four nights and was very pleased. The staff were helpful with a few inquires I had. The room was always very clean and all of the furnishings and carpeting etc. seemed new and well kept. The price was reasonable given the area and the quality of the room.

Both Classy and Comfortable

Posted 17-Mar-2014
Pros: A great value for Kensington Park district
Cons: Speed of service and quality of food in the restaurant, except for the generous and tasty breakfast buffet!
Location: Hyde Park & the Victoria and Albert Museum. Several restaurants & grocery store. A couple of blocks away from tour bus stops and the tube (subway).
Though the rooms in Park International were indeed small, they were very comfortable, and if you consider how this compares to a lot of non-U.S. hotels, it's no big deal. The room was also surprisingly quiet for a hotel that's right on a major city street. If you are driving, you'll need to park at the Holiday Inn next door, so guests should be prepared to walk a short distance upon arrival and departure. The staff were very friendly, the d├ęcor is elegant, and the "Mary Poppins"-style, chimney-sweep-ish view of the city was pleasant.

Clean, comfortable hotel in a safe and quiet area.

Posted 16-Mar-2014
Pros: I liked the location and enjoyed the boutique feel of the hotel, while still enjoying the other amenities that the hotel offered.
Cons: The only thing that could be improved would be the access to the Wi-Fi. It was free, but you had to be in the lobby to use it.
Location: Location is good. On a major Underground line, with a grocery store 1 block away, and lots of restaurants. Also a quieter area.
My 17 yr. old and I stayed here for a week during March Break. We arrived early at 10:30 a.m., and our room was already available, which was AMAZING! The room was clean, with a beautiful large bathroom. There was a mini-fridge in the room as well as a large safe. It is very close to an Underground stop which is on one of the more useful lines, and there is a grocery store, lots of fast food places and restaurants close by. The staff at the hotel were always helpful and courteous, and the concierge booked many of our tours for us. The breakfast room was large, and there was always plenty of hot food to choose from. The hotel had a bar which was always busy. Our room was not on the main street, so it was very quiet at night. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

three days in London

Posted 04-Dec-2013
Pros: The staff; the layout of the hotel.
It's true, the hotel is like a rabbit warren but I found that charming.I don't think it rates being a four star, three would be more accurate.. The room was small but adequate. It was at the back of the hotel so was relativlely quiet except at night time when I became convinced that we were over the laundry room; all I could hear was a sound very similar to the spin cycle of a washing machine. It waasn't loud but it was in the background; very annoying when you're trying to get to sleep. Noisy air conditioner at times. Bathroom smelt musty. Duvet cover wasn't very clean. Not enough television channels! Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel in South Kensington

Posted 03-Dec-2013
Pros: It has everything our family needs and close to the places we want to visit when we stay in London.
Location: It is close to many shrines including those devoted to Princess Diana, Price Albert and the Chelsea Football Club.
Our family has stayed at the Park International 6 times. It is right off the Gloucester Road tube station so it is convenient to Heathrow Airport along with the King's Cross & Victoria Train Stations. There are grocery stores and restaurants nearby and it is within walking distance to the Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert Museums. The rooms are clean, well appointed and quiet despite being on Cromwell Road. The breakfast is great. We'll be back.

good for business or touring

Posted 03-Dec-2013
Pros: clean, centrally located, inexpensive, nice staff. Gym-bar-breakfast-modern bathroom all in one London hotel with character...not to common.
Cons: wifi in the rooms should be included. it should not be a charge (the lobby was free)
Location: see above. I like earls court, old brompton road, taking a Barclays bike up to notting hill gate, the park or into Chelsea by the river.
I lived not far from this hotel in and chose it on location and price. the facilities, inclusion of breakfast, and finishing of the hotel would lead me to recommend it to family and friends. For tourists: On the edge of Zone 1 (of 6), a walk to south Kensington or a Barclays bike from hyde park. near lots of money changes or grocery stores that make it easier to grab food on the go before heading out to explore. right between two very accessible tubes for shoppers to reach central line, Kensington high-street and notting hill gate - near pubs in earls court for a pint with a bit of traveler atmosphere after a full day out. Piccadilly, district and circle lines are really good for hitting the V&A-British museum, tower bridge, kings cross connections to Camden or Europe, and of course the markets.
