“Ideally situated near Harvey Nichols and Harrod's--best hotel at a great price!”
Before booking my reservation at the Millenium Knightsbridge, I read some of the feedback from former guests and found my personal experience to be far superior to what some of the other guests noted. As a frequent and discerning traveler for both business and pleasure, I look for a great rate for a quality property, in other words, a very good value. The hotel location could not be beat..just steps from Harvey Nichols and Harrod's as well as Sloane Street, Beauchamp Place (where Princess Diana shopped) and Walton Street where many of the nearby intimate restaurants were also Diana favorites. The Victoria and Albert Museum is a brisk walk away, as is Chelsea, Kings Road and other fun haunts in London. My hotel room was elegantly furnished, spotless and cozy. The bathroom was well equipped and perfectly adequate in size. Room service was prompt, efficient and tasty. The concierge and front desk staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. They will have internet access in all rooms by year end, I am told--that would help. There is a nice car service that the concierge may arrange and it runs equivalent or slightly less that a regular cab for an elegant car service. I booked the double-decker 48 hr. Original London Tour that allowed me to see multiple tours throughout London, including a museum tour. Well worth it. Have found my home away from home in London.
“Millenium”
I stay in London hotels every two weeks on business and while I have stayed at Millennium, Knightsbridge before, this will certainly be my last. The standard rooms are among the smallest and bleakest decor you will find in London, I was upgraded to an "Executive Room" and it is just as small, if two people had to occupy such a room it would be difficult. The bathrooms are the size of a cupboard, making it VERY difficult to even close the door ! The restaurant is pretty awful and the breakfast buffet a real joke. The only thing the hotel has going for it is the location....Expedia travellers would be much wiser to pick Millennium Gloucester road, not such a good location, but much more comfortable.
“So so”
Small rooms, No wardrobe space in a superior room! Asked for more coat hangs, still waiting!
“Impressive package”
Only issue was our room was not ready upon arrival. That was compensated for as they subsequently bumed us up to a superior room.
“No Wifi in rooms”
Used to be a Holiday Inn and has tiny rooms. I called and was assured they had wifi. 24US$ a day - then found out that it was just working in the lobby - not in the rooms. Called the concierge and asked what time Harrods opens on Sunday and was given a wrong time! Front desk staff unfriendly. The location is perfect and price is pretty reasonable - but if you need to do emails - DO NOT GO !
“Would not recommend”
The hotel is in an excellent location very close to Knightsbridge tube and all the shops on Sloane Street. The concierge were also very helpful booking taxis etc, however the reception staff did not seem concerned about their guests at all. On checking in we were given a smoking room when we had specifically asked for a non smoking room. When we asked to change we were told the hotel was full. I found this extremely unacceptable as the room and the corridor stank of stale cigarette smoke. Also the milk in the fridge was out of date and the old fashioned tv had terrible reception and was impossible to watch. The breakfast was also below standard and not acceptable for the price. For the price we paid I would not recommend this hotel.
“Quiet, Peaceful Haven”
Loved this hotel! Was my 4th time in London and 1st time at this hotel. I will definitely return to the Millennium. Location was fantastic, as was the hotel staff. I was impressed with the room, as most London hotel rooms are small. My only gripe is the cost of breakfast, I should have sined up for the daily special when booking. The hotel was a nice, small, soothing escape in the middle of Knightsbridge. Just steps away from Harrods and the tube. I can't wait to go back!
“Get place to be in London”
Lots of shopping, including Harrods, near by.
“Not suited for business travel”
Really terrible service. They have an exclsuive internet provider that charges you US$40 per day. It's broadband so you can't use wireless - nor can you use an air-mac AT ALL. Their provider was down but blocked all competing wireless services (I paid US$100 for 4 other providers and was then informed by the hotel that they were all blocked - so lost that money). Wireless in main loobby didn't work so tons of people in line for two terminals in their business center. Absolute nightmare and people going nuts as nobody could do any work. Minibar in teh room had very limited drinks and was not restocked so we had no water on our second night. I had stayed at this hotel some ten times and everytime it is getting worse. It used to be a Holiday Inn and is going back there : ) Great location but as a business traveler it is useless. Plus, who charges $40 a night for internet access. Even if it works that is a little steep IMHO.
“Will return”
Hotel location and facilities were excellent. It was the second last hotel we stayed in after travelling in Europe for 2 months and was at least as good if not better than any other hotel we stayed in during that period. Room excellent size and well appointed.
