“very impressed wold stay here again”
Great hotel staff were very helpfull. rooms where clean and modern decore good size bathroom. Located by the DLR staion so convenent to travel into central London. Great overall stay would stay here when I'm in London again.
“Brilliant hotel, very accessible!”
Brilliant hotel, looking forward to our excuse to stay there!
“The bed was very comfortable:)”
The Marriott West India Quay is a nice hotel; if you need to be near Canary Wharf. This hotel is a more than an hour away from Heathrow by any means of transportation. I was there for the Barclay's ATP Tennis tournament at the O2 arena, a short, underground ride from the hotel. They should consider using the fact that the Docklands Light Railway (not the underground) is right outside the door and can get you to central London and interesting sights in minutes. Of course, the downside is that the DLR is just outside the hotel and from my room (on the 3rd floor) I could see the color of commuters eyes!!! In all fairness they did offer to change my room, but the other option was on the 1st floor overlooking the patios and the walkway. Soundproofing is not very good however. Just be aware that floors 9 and above are regulated to Executive apartment rentals. When making reservations via Expedia, it really wasn't clear that the Executive apartments are part of the hotel. The staff were all very helpful. Especially the night Concierge, who initially told me that I could print my boarding pass at no cost and then double checked with the business center, only to discover that I would need to buy internet service. He kindly offered to print it for me, saving me quite a bit. There are not many hotel options in the Docklands area and this hotel offers good size rooms and real elevators. There are tradeoffs, but the bed was very comfortable:)
“Can't wait to go back - good location to City Airport with access to both DLR and Jubilee Line”
Excellent location - within 5 min walk to DLR and 10 to Jubilee Line which was great given that when we were there the DLR line was not operational all day Saturday and Sunday in preparation for Olympics. From City Airport get the DLR to Poplar and then walk to the hotel - there is a lift to street level. It is not worth changing at Poplar to travel one stop for West India Docks. Jamie Olivers Italian is 10 mins walk from the hotel - best to reserve for Friday or Saturday - good value and friendly service. We used Jubilee line mostly which was very efficient and goes to Bond Street which is great for shopping. Took the DLR to Greenwich, crossed the Meridian line which is inside the Maritime Museum (entry cost £7) and saw a Stars by Night show at the Planetarium in the Royal Observatory which was very interesting for adults and children. It is a pity that there are not late night restaurants around Canary Wharf, kitchens seems to close at 10pm except for Carluccio's which was open till 11pm. All in all the hotel is well situated for the O2 and the city and close to City Airport (20 mins by DLR). We would return.
“Fantastic staff, great location”
Despite having lived in London for several years I had never been to Canary Wharf. We chose this hotel as we were meeting friends close by. I loved the area it was immaculate and quiet despite having bars and restaurants close by. The hotel was pristine and the staff extremely polite & helpful. The only downside was we checked in late and ended up in a room with 2 queen beds hardly romantic & the constant noise from the DLR disrupted our sleep. However if you are a heavy sleeper you will be fine. Our friends joined us for drinks at the bar, we had cocktails which were delicious. Jamie's Italian is a short walk from the hotel & we had a great meal there. The transport around this area is amazing we took the clipper ferry which was fantastic much more enjoyable than a tube ride, it has the DLR, tube & a good bus service. I would stay in a Marriott again but not this one due to the noise. I am at the age where I like a good nights sleep.
“Great location for the O2 and the bars/restaurants of Canary Wharf”
A great stay in this hotel for a short weekend. Location is great for the O2 and all the bars and restaurants of Canary Wharf. Would love to stay here again.
“A really comfortable place to stay”
We selected this hotel after looking through Expedia's flight and hotel combos. It was an incredible value for a 5-star hotel. We were very satisfied with our stay, with only one quibble. Our room was very cold, and when a request to the front desk resulted in no change by the time we returned that evening, we chalked it up to the fact that London is not built for cold weather. But when we asked again, that produced an almost instant response and the heat was fixed within 20 minutes. Somehow the first request must have been lost or forgotten, but once the right people knew of the problem, no one could fault the speed or concern with which they responded. Special mention should be made of the comfortable bed and linens - it was a pleasure to snuggle up and sleep better than is often the case when travelling. The sheets were amazing. The room was large and the bathroom luxurious. Staff we encountered were friendly and greeted us, or returned greetings. We didn't eat in the hotel, and spent most of the days out touristing. This hotel does charge an extremely high rate for internet service, as many European hotels do. We stayed earlier in a Best Western property near the Gloucester Road tube station, and one reason for selecting it was the free wireless internet. The nearby underground mall at Canary Wharf offers a wide range of shopping and eating, including a Byron Proper Hamburger restaurant. Transit via Docklands Light Rail or the Jubilee tube line was very convenient.
“Disappointed”
Was expecting quite a lot from the Marriott brand but sorry to say that it was a disappointment. Firstly got the required room late by 2 hours. Later found out that the room was for the accessibility needs people. The bathroom fittings were not the class of even a 3 star hotel.
“Good hotel and location”
The hotel is in a good location to get the Dockland Light Railway in to the city. The nearest station is right outside the back of the hotel. Outside the hotel are a couple of restaurants as well as the hotels lovely bar and restaurant plus the O2 arena is less than 10 mins away by Underground train. The standard rooms had no problems whatsoever and the beds are so soft and comfy you are sure of a good nights sleep! One thing to point out is that the hotel is so close to the Docklands Light Railway that it is worth requesting a room on the Quay side as they benefit from less noise (although not unbearable in the noiser rooms) and better views.
