“CAUTION”
The bed trapped me between it and the wall, there was food under our bed when we arrived, no AC-which apparently is typical in London, there were gnats everywhere and it was extremely cramped for three people.
“Management can do much better”
These accomdations could have been made more acceptable with a little more consideration of guest comfort by the owner/management. Our room was depressing, no curtains (blinds that did not block the light), blank walls, no bedside table - it was makeshift. The fire alarm went off during the night. There was an strong unpleasant smell in the hallway and to a much lesser extent in our room. The front desk service was great.
“tiniest room ever”
We arrived at the hotel around midnight, and the neighborhood felt a little bit dangerous to us. We asked around the neighbors as to where the hotel is, and even the residents on the same street doesn't know that hotel is called Kensington West. It looked just like an normal apartment. The room is very tiny for 2 people, needless to say that it would be very cramped for 4. But they managed to put a double, a single, and a bunk bed in there to call it a 4 people room. Bathroom is tiny too you have to turn yourself in there to get by the sink. But there is a LCD TV with remote and free wifi. And the staff was helpful too on all kinds of information. Decent budget choice I guess, only if you don't mind not even having space to unpack your luggage.
“Good location”
The location of the hotel is good (District line), besides that there’s not much to do in that area (residential). Our first day we discover that they didn’t gave us our request of four twin beds, they apologize and recognized their mistake but were not able to gave us the correct room. Then we discover that we didn’t have any electricity in the bathroom, yes no lights. The room had a small lamp but the cord was not long enough to reach the bathroom. The front desk lady told us that there was an area under construction in the hotel where maybe we can get a “construction lamp”…we end up going to that part of the hotel which had no lights trying to look for the lamp that she was talking, we finally found it and take it to the room. We connected it and put it in the bathroom but honestly we didn’t felt safe doing this; I’m sure that this lamp is not supposed to be so close to water and since the bathroom was extremely small there was no way to avoid contact and also the heat generated by the lamp was suffocating and it was only for a short period of time while showering. They told us that the problem was going to be resolved but it never happened, we stayed there for three days and two nights and we didn’t even received a response from the manager (perhaps free breakfast would have been a good gesture for this unfortunate event, but it didn’t happen). I must said that their attitude was good and polite thus not effective.
“reasonable price for this vakue”
reasonable price for this vakue. Location is very good, safe place. B&B classical - sleep and nothing more.
“Beyond Awful!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!”
Plain and simple, avoid staying here at all costs! Long story short we were suckered into booking three nights here because of their low prices and “Kensington” location. 1. In an AWFUL neighborhood. When we go there, there were police signs all around the hotel saying burglaries in the area and not to leave valuables anywhere. Also, if you notice in the pictures or videos of the hotel they do not show the front. This is because there is a huge dumpster overflowing with trash. 2. Not close to any tube stop, restaurants, bars, etc.! We took a cab there from a previous hotel and the cab driver had never heard of it and them when we got to the area told us to be careful. 3. No shower curtain and the bathroom is comparable to an airplane bathroom. 4. None of the keys to the doors worked so we were prisoners to our room for hours until we finally go keys that worked. 5. To get to our room you had to enter a series of door and hallways that were pitch black. Sheets had blood stains.. etc.! 6. We were in a ground level room with a huge window that was open when we entered and sheer curtains. That really made us feel safe especially with those burglary signs outside…not! Do not be swayed by their prices for 20 dollars more you can do MUCH MUCH better!
“Good Value, Friendly Service”
We were looking for a resonably priced hotel for sleeping, as we planned to spend every waking hour seeing the sites. The room was small but comfortable, and the location was convient to transportation(the Underground). The staff was friendly and very helpfull. We would definitly stay there again.
“Extremely tiny room, but everything else was great!”
Friendly service, coffe/chocolate/tea machine 24hrs, very clean, picturesque location, close to subway. On a negative side - we never stayed in such a tiny room, feels like a sleeper cell, but the cute one.
“Very good bargain, clean, good location”
This hotel was good for the money. Everyone is right when they say the rooms are tiny but if you're in London, how much time do you want to spend in your room anyway? My daughters had some trouble with a smell from the toilet in their bathroom but our room was great and the staff was very nice and accommodating. Three blocks from the tube. Very convenient. Would definitely go back.
“Spartan but ok.”
This is a clean, well-run place. Very bare-bones: e.g. only one towel and no bathmat and, unlike almost every other hotel in England, no electric pot to make yourself a cup of tea. It is in a residential neighborhood, so you have to walk a ways to find something to eat. But if you just need competent service, and a cheap, clean room, this place is fine.
