Have stayed in the Cranley many times. We find it an excellent boutique hotel, more like a home away from home in the heart of Kensington. The staff are greta and friendly and make your stay as stress free as possible.
Staying at our Lamington apartment was a fantastic experience! We had reserved a one-room studio, since there are only two of us, but we were upgraded (at no extra charge) to a one-bedroom that could have slept four people. The apartment was birght and spacious, and it was located in a nice, quiet neighborhood only 5 minutes from the nearest Tube station.
We arrived on a Saturday. Since the office is closed on weekends, we went to a deli a few doors down, where a very helpful woman gave us our keys and info. The next day we somehow managed to lock ourselves INSIDE the apartment, and had to call the emergency number. Two employees showed up quickly and helped us out. We plan on staying in a Lamington apartment every time we are in London.
Close to Finchley Central station, about 15 minutes walk. Always take mini cab not black cab for minimum rates. Check in and check out easy. Extremely friendly staff who gave us early breakfast at 04:45 am to suit our needs to check out early. Breakfast itself was complimentary all days. Clean rooms and attached bathroom. Housekeeping was excellent. Breakfast menu was varied and excellent in taste. Would love to stay in again.

The hotel ranks as a 5 star hotel extremely convenient from a location point of view. Right at terminal 5 with easy train access to other terminals and central London. Room facilities are great staff are very helpful, breakfast Buffet has a very wide range of foods and is reasonable in price. Great spa facilities and a very nice coffee and pastries shop. I have stayed here every time I come to London.
We stayed in a cosy room by choice. Granted its "cosy". The bathroom is great with a stand-alone shower which I prefer anyway. There was plenty of room here. There's a safe and tea/coffee making facilities, full length mirror in the wardrobe space. A huge telly with all the free film stations is also a bonus. Restaurant food here was great, great cocktails and great desserts. I'd highly recommend eating there. The hotel is in a great location with loads of good restaurants and breakfast spots to choose from. Both Barbican and Farringdon tube stations are a short walk away in either direction from the hotel. We loved our stay here and would definitely stay again.
My wife and I and our 1 year old stayed for a night in a large 2 bed suite, which was comfortable, clean and in a great location, especially for shopping. The Astor is not a modern, bland hotel but it has a lot of character, it does feel a bit worn in places but I think the hotel offers good value for money and I'd recommend it for a short break. One thing they do need to repair is the lift, which wasn't working when we arrived with our bags and pushchair on a rainy afternoon. Besides that, the breakfast was ok and we enjoyed our stay.
