“Great comfort when making a travel connection”

We stayed at the Hilton Gatwick for a night prior to flying to Las Vegas in October. The hotel booking was made online on arrival everything was in order and it took no time at all to get checked in. The location of the hotel is ideal for anyone travelling back through Gatwick airport you simply couldnt get any closer to the airport! There are a few restaurants in the hotel which are rather pricey, though very nicely decorated. However if you go into the airport there are a selection of eateries at competitive prices and a couple of bars too. We only ate breakfast in the hotel, it was very good serving a full English alongside pastries, juice, tea, coffee, cereal, yoghurt toast and a selection of fish. Our room was nice, it had a king bed which was very comfortable, plenty of pillows. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room, along with an ironing board and iron, trouser press, alarm clock radio, T.V etc. Bathroom was decent with a full bath and shower. We left our battery charger in the hotel room and on our return journey popped in to see if it had been handed in. The staff we fantastic and quickly located our item to return to us. All in all a very good hotel. A bit pricey but convenient, clean and comfortable. Good staff who were polite and helpful.

Dining

You can get a meal in Wetherspoons in the airport for less than £10 for a main course and a drink - definitely book the breakfast package, it's well worth the money at the Hilton Gatwick!

“Quick stay due to cancelled flight”

Basic hotel that provides all you need if you need a quick over night stay at Gatwick. No extra, no frills so don't expect any. We booked at Expedia due to a cancelled flight. Rooms are a little rough around the edges. It took the desk 2 hours to receive the reservation from Expedia (via fax they said?) which was quite annoying and would not check me in even though I had the email confirmation. Also stopped by Exec Lounge for a quick query and was given a very cold shoulder since I was not an identified member since I booked quickly through Expedia. I would go to his hotel if in the same situation but would not seek them out. The neighboring Sofitel is closer to the terminal and the experience was overall better.

Area recommendations

Visit Giraffe restaurant - only place we found with decent food at Gatwick.

“Impressed”

Conveniently situated and only a short walk from the South terminal of the airport. Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival, only fault is they could have said that the computers in reception would allow you to book on line and print your boarding pass without paying for computer time. Other than that a good stay in a clean and pleasant environment.

“Great weekend in Prague”

Brilliant hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you're off to Prague and are looking for a nice hotel. The staff were great, the lobby is beautiful and the bar & cigar room brilliant for relaxing. Bit disappointed with the changing facilities in the spa (broken lockers) but overall a brilliant hotel

“Gatwick Hilton is a disgusting hotel.”

Where can I begin? The hotel room was dirty. The room was full of dust. The walls were dirty. The bathroom had stains all over the floor. The air conditioning vent hummed all night. I think it was the elevator motor. It sounded like a fog horn. There were 2 tissues in the box in the bathroom. There was one tiny bottle of bath gel. The only reason to stay there is that it is attached to the airport. I will probably be sick all week because I stayed there.

“Most helpful staff Convenient location for trains and planes!”

My husband and I received outstanding help from the hotel staff from finding a doctocr, to trains and activities in London. The concierge desk is second to none! We loved being able to take the train in to London and walking to our plane without the need for a cab.

Getting around

It is great to have a home base with a train station and an airport for all kinds of side trips.

“ok, if you must.”

bathroom require urgent update. shower did not work. general condition poor. because there was a great deal of building work around, it is extremely difficult to find your way to the airport terminal. Breakfast is good. However, it is more convenient than staying in one of the hotels where you have to take a bus to the airport terminal. I stayed here long time ago and I remember it was great, but not anymore. Needs upgrade before I will return again.
