“SMALL ROOMS, GREAT LOCATION”
The Location is great, but the rooms are VERYYYY small, and with very narrow door entrance and 3 stairs. But i did not use the room except for sleeping , i didn't care. The Hotel has a very beautiful old days style lobby and reception.
“Perfect location and price”
The Grand Royale Hyde Park London represents a perfect hotel for a seasoned traveler. Anyone expecting bespoke customer service and a room the size of an American Holiday Inn should look elsewhere. However, if you are seeking prime location, unique and historical building, modern and clean rooms, with very fair pricing (just under a hundred a night for a 'single) and adequately friendly staff - this is the place. The rooms are 'tight' for someone not used to staying in an older/vintage city hotel room (much like NYC or Chicago). The rooms are clean, quiet and safe. I loved the remodeled bathroom (which was quite roomy). Two tube stops (Bayswater and Queensway) are within one block, not to mention the bus lines, and less than 2 blocks to a Barclays Bicycle stand (truly the best way to get around Hyde Park and the rest of London if you are comfortable).
“A pleasant surprise”
Rooms and bathrooms seem to have been updated recently. The graciousness of the front desk personnel made up for not being able to answer all my touristy questions. Loved the apples that were always provided in a bowl at the front desk. The public computer (with internet access) saved my life and vacation.
“Classy looking hotel that needs to nail down the details.”
Our room was not available - we were first told we'd be sent to another one of their properities in the area but then given two seperate rooms with single beds - each room was approximately the size of a large closet. The room I was given was missing a power outlet cover and the toilet seat was loose. The second night we were switched to the room we had reserved and we received complimentary breakfast for the remainder of our stay. Breakfast was good (and would not have been cheap for two for 4 nights) but it was still insane that we spent our first night in London on holiday, in two seperate teeny tinny rooms.
“Great Hotel to Explore London”
The hotel location is close to underground and near city center, and there are plenty of quick and inexpensive eateries just around the corner. The lounge is as beautiful and elegant as in the pictures, and rooms are modern and clean (but pretty small). There is free internet but it was a very flaky connection. Overall I would definitely stay here again, it's great value for your money.
“Nice hotel but tiny rooms”
The hotel was very nice, with great location between two tube stops and across the road access to Hyde Park, but the rooms were so tiny! I stayed there with my partner, and there was hardly room to move around. Bathroom occupancy is definitely 1 at a time. There was hardly even room for a single person in the shower, and the position of the toilet and sink means you have to hold your knees at an awkward angle just to do your business. The sink was about as big as a bowl of soup. Cramped living quarters is to be expected in London, but that's pushing it a bit.
“OK but not wonderful”
We stayed at this hotel for about 9 days. While the location is great (right near the Queensway station), close to Internet Cafe, restaurants, small supermarket and close to the Swan Pub, the hotel is lacking in some areas and needs work. The window in our room could not be opened so we had to use the air condtioning and then were too cold at night. The doors have deadbolts but it doesn't work and apparently we were told all the rooms have deadbolts that don't work ! The in-room safe is not bolted down so it can easily be removed (we never used it). When we requested another room, we were refused. The maid service was very good and the hotel staff was always polite, helpful and pleasant. If you do not have breakfast included in your room rate, it is very expensive at the hotel so eat out or buy milk and cereal (there is a small fridge in the room). Would I return - only if I had a room with a window that could be opened and a working deadbolt on the door.
“Taste of Victorian London”
A beautiful wood-paneled Victorian lobby gives a touch of elegance to this conveniently located London hotel. Rooms vary in size - ours was quite small, barely enough room to turn around in, but clean and well-appointed. Once we mastered the bus and subways, it was easy to get to wherever we wanted, or we could just walk across the park to the South Kensington attractions. One street over there is a diverse assortment of ethnic restaurants to choose from. A nice and uplifting place to stay.
“Grand Royale London Hyde Park ..... perfect.”
We loved the balcony which allowed us to have fresh air at night, see the morning sun and dry some clothing. The location next to the parks made it easy to get exercise and catch public transportation. We did not eat any of the meals there, although they looked and smelled delicious. We will do that on our next visit.
“Hotel was great”
The room was a little small, but that was expected. The bathroom was extra small but I managed. Staff was always friendly, room was always clean. There were small maintenance issues that could be done to make it better (paint touch ups, etc) but nothing major. The room might be too small for 2 people but was just right for just me. I stayed for 8 nights and enjoyed it.
