“Very pleasant stay”
Staff were excellent and looked after us very well. The were very helpful and sociable and moved us into a larger room when they saw we had our elderly mother with us. Breakfast was good. Room was spacious and worked well although sofa bed wasn't brilliant. Mum had main bed and wasn't comfortable either. All in all I would recommend this hotel as it represents excellent value for money.
“Cheap and Nice location for O2”
Went to London for a gig at the O2 - location was OK, only 1 stop on the tube. Hotel was basic but functional - nothing wrong.
“East but Easy Access”
It is a Holiday Inn Express, so as long as you go there not expecting 4 star luxury or facilities you should find it fine. We went with two young children for a long weekend and found the staff friendly and helpful. We watched the hotel change from a tourist stopover to a business residence yet notice no difference in the quality of service. A slight negative was that they have minor maintenance issues e.g. tap hard to shut off and moving toilet seats. The walk to Canning Town station is fine for older children & adults but might be a bit much for younger children. However you also have a bus stop that is right outside. The Jubilee line at Canning Town takes you to many interesting places in just a few minutes e.g. O2, London Bridge or Westminster. Most importantly when travelling with small kids: with the Jubilee line you don't need to take any stairs, very useful after a long day visiting London.
“Great value and brilliant location”
We stayed here for one night while at a show at the O2, with our 2 teenage children. It is less than 5 minutes walk from Canning town station where you are on the Jubilee Underground Line one stop from the O2, and only a couple more to the Westfield Shopping centre (shop till you drop!). Its also on the Docklands Light Railway line so you can go on that or the Tube to central London in about 20 minutes. The hotel itself was very well decorated, there is a lovely lounge downstairs and the complimentary breakfast was really excellent - especially with 2 teenagers who need to stoke up on sausages and cereal before even walking 5 minutes! We had a room with a double bed and a sofa bed so it was a bit cosy for the 4 of us, but perfectly adequate for a stop over. There is a good corner shop nearby for snacks, drinks etc and a wee Italian restaurant that looked nice, although we didnt eat there. Service was really friendly and helpful too. We would go back here even if we werent going to the O2.
“Pleasant surprise”
Excellent position for o2 and really easy to access. We drove and were surprised to find we could park for just £10 for 24 hours. Tube/bus station was 5mins walk away. On arrival and departure receptionists really welcoming & friendly and overall ambience good. Room clean and functional, generally quiet except for bit of traffic noise.Surprised at variety and quality of breakfast on offer! Only thing that let whole experience down was service at breakfast - one very surly and unhelpful waitress and tables not being cleaned down quickly. Hardly a major issue though. Would defo stay again if wanted to be in this part of town or going to O2.
“Close to the O2 Arena”
We chose this hotel as it was close to the O2 arena and we weren't disappointed. The hotel itself was extremely basic but enough for our needs. Getting to the O2 was a 3 minute tube ride and the tube station was just across the street from the hotel. The reception staff were friendly answering our questions. Negatives: The internet charges were a little steep and there was very little in the vicinity to do.
“Good price for surprisingly nice hotel”
I was prepared for this place to be questionable, small, and too far away, but it's what I could afford. When I got there though it was a really nice hotel. The staff was friendly and eager to help and getting checked in took practically no time at all. The offered complimentary breakfast every morning in a large and nice dining room/lounge area. They also had comfortable chairs and a large screen TV in the lounge with a small bar off to the side. The room was somewhat small but perfectly laid out to make the most of the space. It was very clean and the beds, though a little firm for my taste, were quite comfortable. WiFi was affordable for 24 hours use and they counted it by hours used, not overall time so as long as you remember to log out after each use it's pretty hard to run out of prepaid time. I really appreciated the fact that since I paid through Expedia they did not have my card on file so I never had to worry about accidentally incurring extra costs. The hotel itself is located just 2 blocks away from the Canning Town Station for DLR (Docklands Light Rail) and Jubliee Line (underground). It was extremely easy to take either of those to most tourist destinations within London.
“Fine for the money”
The hotel does what it says on the tin really. It's fine for a business trip although you should realise its about 25 mins into central London on a tube. A taxi would be a fortune. Its pretty basic but priced accordingly and with a pretty good breakfast for the money. Air con in the rooms though.Definitely the best of the budget brands I would say. Had no real reason to deal with the staff during my stay but found them pleasant and helpful when I did. In short fine for a business person on a budget (and who isin't nowadays?) but not a holiday location.
“Great for O2 but don't expect much”
The location for the O2 was fine, just 1 stop on the underground which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, but the receptionist was a little surly, the spare bed wasn't made up and we were near to the stairs where the fire door banged shut everytime someone walked through it. You are charged an additional £10 for parking and there's nowhere else to park anyway so you don't really have a choice but to stump up. Breakfast was very disappointing, with people reaching over each other to try to get to things in a small room, with not much of a hot choice..just scrambled eggs and sausages. There was some buiding work going on in the hotel near the breakfast room which we weren't made aware of at the start of the booking or when we arrived so areas were sectioned off. Luckily we only stayed one night, and I doubt very much that we will be returning.
“Great value, perfect for London Underground, DLR and Buses”
We had a great time in town. The hotel, although not in one of London's better areas, offered a very good location. Only a few minutes walk along a main road, to Canning Town tube station, which also offers access to The Docklands Light Railway and Buses. The reception staff were very helpful with travel tips and help with route planning. We found the beds very soft, but all was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was no better than average. We will stay again in the future, at the right rate, of course.
