“Lower Your Expectations Now!”
Rooms are incredibly small. Room service is not good (they did not replace the towels). Breakfast is a joke (cereal only). On the plus side, they have free wi-fi, private car park and the hotel is close to the clapham south station and a tesco supermarket.
“Good lodging”
The location is great, 1 block from the tube station. There are trendy bars and restaurantes in the way to the station. The breakfast is very simple, just cofee, milk, cereals, toasts, butter and jam. The staff at reception desk should be more friendly.
“Poopy to the max... but you get what you paid for.”
First of all... don't try to get there before 3 o'clock because you can't check in. I really do wish we would have known that before we showed up, completely knackered. Anyhoo, it's a cheap motel at best, almost a hostel. The room was crazily small, as in, our door almost hit the bed on our way in. No dresser, but we did have a desk. The bathroom was so gross (smell, look, cleanliness, etc), that we wore sandals the whole time in our room, and in the shower. Our phone didn't work, so we were transferred to a room down the hall which was a little better; phone worked and the bathroom didn't stink. Anyhoo, the breakfast was AWFUL... literally a bowl of either cornflakes or rice crispies, warm milk, and toast. We just went to Tesco down the road for our breakfasts. Staff were ok. Nothing special, nothing terrible. They won't bend over backwards for you, but they don't spit in your face, so that's a plus. The area was good. South Clapham has some good stuff and, as I stated, it was very close to tesco. Also, there is a really good indian restaurant close by. Overall, the place sucks, but you've gotta expect that for how cheap it is to stay here in zone 2 off the tube (which is very close, a big plus). We definitely wouldn't stay here again, but would recommend it to someone who is on a tight budget.
“It was OK.”
The room was extremely small. The radiator was almost completely (80%) covered with the bed, which was pressing agaiinst the radiator, thus it was cold in the room (I was there in winter time). I asked for the additional blanket which I got immediately. The personnel was very friendly and helpful.
“Come here if you want to fight for your breakfast”
The included breakfast is coffee and french toasts, it is served once for the entire hotel in a small room and only the fastest and more rude customers get to eat. Also, you have to report to hotel reception everyday so that they can reset your key.
“Good for the price”
You get what you pay for and nothing else. It worked great for my needs since I was not in the hotel much. Internet was extremely slow though.
“You get what you pay for, OK for 1 night”
If you are concerned more about location and price more than comfort and quality you might want to stay at this hotel, its few steps away from clapham south tube station, which is great if you are carrying luggage. Hotel is old as well as the room I stayed in, they serve continental breakfast and it wasnt that bad considering what I paid for. The neighborhood seemed pretty nice and safe, there were several food options nearby.
“Not great but not terrible”
Room was smaller than we expected (pictures deceiving on website) and right next to the breakfast room, so it was a bit loud. Close to the tube station though, which was nice. When we inquired about staying another night, the price jumped from one price in dollars to the same price in pounds.
“It's O.K.”
This is a classic case of "you get what you pay for", as The Euro Lodge Clapham isn't a 5-star hotel by a looooong shot; This, however, does not mean that it's a real dump either. I would first state that the front desk service was more than helpful in every way possible, couldn't ask for more. And you're only about three blocks from the Clapham South station for the Tube Northern line, so getting around was easy. As far as the actual rooms are concerned, it appears that the rooms were at one time an actual residence and the building was converted into guests rooms (I could be wrong about this but this is what it looks like). The size of the room I stayed in was typical European size so I expected that. The carpet was old and dirty, the curtains were broken at the top and hung at an angle making it difficult to close completely and you could definitely hear your neighbors coming and going. But in light of all of this, if your plans call for you to spend all of your time out-and-about, it's not bad at all. The majority of my time was running around, so all-in-all I'd recommend this place if you are looking for affordability.
“2nd stay there”
It was my second stay. There is a nearby tube stop (S Clapham), nearby Tesco and many restaurants and pubs, nearby internet cafe. The rooms are various--the room during my first stay was bigger but the bathroom was older and during this 2nd stay, the room was tiny but the bathroom was new and very nice. It's clean and the staff is friendly. I'd go back again.
