“Best 4 star hotel I ever been in London”
When I reserved the room I did not know what to expect.I paid a very low price via Expedia and I what I received for that price was amazing.Very quiet location and still near subwaystation. The room was so pleasant and the bathroom was like new.I never been to a 4 star hotel that has so much to offer.I really would recommend this hotel, especially for people in the Greenwich area.Next time I''ll be in London I'll definitifly go back to this hotel.Price/value is best in London.
“Good hotel, excellent staff but, for a 4 star, could improve on room facilities”
This is a very good hotel with friendly, helpful staff and, although located almost an hour out of central London by bus or tube (partly due to the traffic), these are easily accessed for the journey in/out. Greenwich village itself, as well as the river, Maritime Museum, park and Royal Observatory are all within a few minutes walk of the hotel. We were a little surprised that some room facilities you might expect from a 4 star hotel were absent. These included such as a trouser press, a room safe and fridge. Our room (208), which we presumed was the norm, was a little on the small size but it was comfortable and clean and the en-suite was clean and more than adequate. The hotel restaurant is light and pleasant and the full English breakfast was good. Parking in the hotel car park is free which is a real bonus, as the majority of London hotels (if they have parking at all) is generally costly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Devonport House and would certainly consider staying there again when we next visit London.
“Great location”
Very central location and great to have car parking. Staff very polite. Room very clean and nicely furnished. Would stay again.
“Comfortable and convenient place to stay in Greenwich”
I booked Devonport House for a one night stay for a small group of ladies on a 60th birthday trip. This is a great place for Greenwich and access to London generally by boat, tube or rail. I have nothing negative to say about it at all although had the weather been really hot I think the rooms would have been extremely stuffy as the window hardly opened because of limiters. Can't hotels just put a warning notice up "If you fall out of this window you are likely to hurt yourself and it will be your own stupid fault!!"? My only criticism would be that I specifically booked 3 twin rooms with Expedia and yet double rooms had been allocated. This could have been disastrous but luckily I had called in 2 weeks early to check that everything was ok. The hotel desk was very helpful and sorted it out and I don't really know whether the fault lies in the booking system or not. Anyway...alls well that ends well.
“excellent hotel”
when we arrived at the hotel the receptionist was very welcoming. the room was very spacious and comfortable. the beds were bliss. every thing was very clean. the food was excellent and the staff were very efficent. tea and coffee on tap in the upper lounge and bar area which was a very good as you can just relax and help yourself. i would definately stay in this hotel again and it is easy to get to central london and is so close to the o2 arena on the river boat. all in all a very good hotel.
“Incredible setting between the park and the river.”
The fourth time we have stayed here and as good as ever. Breakfast is lovely - good choice, fresh and tasty, and the staff are helpful and attentive.
“Overall a good hotel in an excellent location”
We booked an overnight stay and were very satisfied. From the pictures and description of the hotel on the Expedia website, we expected the hotel to be quite grand and traditional but infact it has a modern interior housed in an old building. Our room was quite small, but clean with very comfortable beds, but our double bed was infact 2 singles pushed together. There were tea & coffee making facilities but these were basic. The ensuite was clean, modern and the shower very refreshing. We had a 3 course dinner in the dining room and the food and service was very good. Breakfast in the restaurant was also very good with a hot & cold buffet offering a very good choice. The hotel wasn't busy when we stayed, early in the new year, when I imagine it is not their busiest time, so the restaurant and bar were both very quiet with not a lot of staff or guests. My only real complaint would be that even though the hotel is only 2.5* the drink prices were very expensive. I guess this is in keeping with most London hotels but we normally stay in a 4* where we expect to pay inflated prices. After dinner we avoided the expensive hotel bar but as the hotel is so well located there is a large choice of pubs/restaurants practically on the doorstep. There is also lovely shops, the cutty sark (currently being refurbished so closed) and Greenwich Sunday Market within a very short walk.I would stay there again. I would like to know why it is only a 2.5* as I thought it deserved atleast a 3*
“Excellent service and fantastic location”
Staff very warm and friendly. Room was very nice and hotel is excellent location for the O2 (£10 in taxi for 4 ppl) and was worth it to avoid having to brave the crowds after the concert and rush to make last trains/tube. We had dinner, bed and breakfast deal but knew we had to leave to go to the O2 before dinner was served in restaurant (7pm). The Receptionist advised us that we could order food in the bar at no extra charge which was appreciated and saved us time and money. Although the quality of the food was not great for the prices charged in the bar (steak was fatty, veg was cold) but as included in room price we didn't complain. Staff were again very warm and friendly at breakfast and overall we enjoyed our stay here. We will look for future offers as this was lovely location in centre of Greenwich and we would use as base to explore London in future.
“Great location”
My husband and I looked for a last minute one night break somewhere in London and found the Devonport on Expedia at a great rate.We had room, evening meal, breakfast and parking all in. Our only complaint was that the top cover on the bed, which although seemed freshly cleaned was quite badly stained which gave the room a bad first impression. Apart from that and considering the rate everthing else exceeded our expectations. There was no problem with leaving the car in the car park after check out. The service in the dining room was fast and efficient and the food to a good stardard. The location was perfect for Greenwhich Park, the market and the Navel museam, in fact one day wasn't enough to explore the whole of Greenwhich. Like for like we would return.
“Hotel Devonport House”
This Hotel is located in Greenwich, from here it will take you about 20 minutes to get downtown (oxford circus) by subway. Greenwich is more like a little village within London. Also the hotel was great offer free parking space, being near a park and a 5-min walk from the subway. Also near the hotel are pubs, shops, supermarket and a church.
