“Distance is an issue”
The hotel was very nice, and inexpensive. *******BUT******It was also a 5 pound cab ride to the closest tube station and 8 stops outside the city from there. If you have a car it would be ideal, but we wanted to hop around the city on the tube and this made planning quite difficult. The hotel itself was clean, friendly, and all in all very nice though - the only drawback here is location.
“Warning: Hotel is Out of the Way”
I was impressed with the cost of this hotel and I feel very comfortable walking and taking the tube in this city, so I didn't bother to consider how far this place might be from the more touristy areas of London. This was a big mistake. If you book this hotel please know that the closest Underground stop is Edgware, which is north, but it doesn't end there. You also have to take a taxi (or bus, if you feel up to the challenge) from there to the hotel which is about a 7-pound charge as long as you specify to the cabbie "drop me off at the alley". If you don't specify this they will take you on the M1 and drop you off in front, which is nice, but the cost more that doubles. As for that alley, it's a closed off road that cabbies are not supposed to drive through. This is unsettling if you are not expecting it but I walked it a few times during my stay and didn't feel unsafe, it's just weird. The worst part though is that one evening I was out in the Hammersmith area until well past the tube's closure for the night -- I had to take a taxi home at a cost of 45 pounds. Basically the savings on the lodging amounted to nothing since I had to pay so much extra for taxis, you are probably better off paying a little more and being closer to the heart of London.
“Only book this hotel if you have a car or other such means of transportation”
I booked this hotel by mistake, thinking I was booking Days Hotel Waterloo. I found out too late to correct the mistake, so went ahead and stayed at the hotel for a few nights. It is way out there, very cut off. We had to pay for a cab to get there, and the driver didn't know the location- he had to use a tomtom to find it and the directions were slightly off (the road they suggested had been closed off so people couldn't use it to access the motorway). To get anywhere, we had to walk to the nearest bus stop (a very convoluted walk), take the bus and then the tube into London. Now don't get me wrong, the hotel itself was very nice and if you have a car, or are traveling in a group by coach, it would probably be a nice place to stay. As it was, we checked out early and moved to a hotel closer into the city. The staff were generally pleasant and the room was a good size- plenty of space. It had a full bath and the bed was good. You do have to pay for internet use. I wasn't too pleased with that. Had it not been for the location it would have been a good place.
“hotel bello e pulito”
Buon soggiorno a tutti.
“Days Inn Hotel London North”
