very nice spot

wish we could have found a shuttle to hotel from Gatwick - we were so tired at arrival and lugged cases on walk to hotel. It was handy to get shuttle from hotel back but couldn't find one the other way? nice walk if you are young and not heavy laden with luggage though! very pleasant stay

Good for stay near Gatwick airport.

Posted 05-Oct-2014
We booked this hotel after flying into Gatwick as we needed to go to Heathrow the next day. Wanted hotel attached to airport terminal to minimise carrying bags far. This hotel was a 10 minute walk away which I hadn't realised on booking, so a bit disappointed by that. Had meal in bar which was good although a bit pricey.

Good value

Posted 26-Sep-2014
Pros: Convenience to airport The restaurant was a very comfortable space and the menu was good value The breakfast courtyard was excellent
Cons: I think the hotel would benefit by including airport transfers in the room rates, as it would negate the only slight advantage the Hilton might have.
It was a convenient and very enjoyable stop-over. Really liked the restaurant and breakfast courtyard.

Ridiculous Charges for Wi-Fi

Posted 07-Sep-2014
This hotel is fine. Walking distance to Gatwick. But it charges $25.00 (roughly) a day for Internet access. A ludicrous impediment to checking in online and other normal tasks. Unacceptable in 2014.

Close to the airport

Posted 31-Aug-2014
Pros: Not far from the airport and good room size.
Cons: Staff customer service approach at the hotel and over the phone.
Location: Near by : airport, Brighton 30min drive.
Stay was ok, even though it was few hours only, but negative side was car park cost me £25.

Overpriced extras.

Posted 23-Aug-2014
The disappointing part of the experience was the add-ons. The base price of the hotel with kingsize bed was excellent. The room was excellent, no noise from the airport but the soundproofing meant no phone signal. On top of the basicroom rate was the following approx. Car parking £24 per day, wifi £5.00 per hour, breakfast £15, airport transfer £3 per person, single journey, evening meal £19.

Great stay, very close to airpot!

Overall, I had a great experience with this hotel. It is walking distance to the South Terminal of Gatwick airport. I walked there in the pitch dark, and there were signs guiding you along every minute, it was great. Then the next morning I took the 3 pound shuttle. The room was very clean, very spacious compared to other hotels near London, and comfortable.

so-so airport hotel

Posted 13-Aug-2014
Pros: close proximity to National Express bus stop to Heathrow
Cons: Please stop gauging your patrons with unnecessary wifi fees.
booked this because of its advertised closeness to south terminal and my standard expectations of a Mariott Courtyard. it is definitely walkable and many signs to keep you on track, but we arrived very late and it was very dark. there is one particlarly area that is hidden from the road very poorly lit, and when your hands are full with luggage not knowing exactly where you are going, the last thing you need to worry about is getting jumped behind a hidden wall and dark bushes. Perhaps Courtyard and/or Gatwick maintenance should look into this? The room was large for UK standards, and very soundproof considering we are beside an airport. having to pay for the internet by the hour is a real drag considering the cost to spend one night here. Most business hotels (and all other Courtyards I have stayed at) provide free wifi. This was a sticking point because of the amount of things I needed to coordinate or book online before my flight in the morning. Staff was friendly, however did not have the knowledge I expected they might re: transfers and transport to LHR or to tube stations. In fact seemed pretty clueless. I would have expected they got this question every other day from passengers passing through.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding our hotel. The lights are the responsibility of the Highways Agency and Gatwick Airport. The walkway is controlled by CCTV and operated by the local police for terrorist prevention reasons and is therefore very safe. I am sorry if you found our staff not knowledgeable enough in regards to local knowledge and we shall include this in future training sessions to improve their knowledge. Thank you for choosing Marriott hotels.
