Overpriced extras.

The disappointing part of the experience was the add-ons. The base price of the hotel with kingsize bed was excellent. The room was excellent, no noise from the airport but the soundproofing meant no phone signal. On top of the basicroom rate was the following approx. Car parking £24 per day, wifi £5.00 per hour, breakfast £15, airport transfer £3 per person, single journey, evening meal £19.

Great stay, very close to airpot!

Overall, I had a great experience with this hotel. It is walking distance to the South Terminal of Gatwick airport. I walked there in the pitch dark, and there were signs guiding you along every minute, it was great. Then the next morning I took the 3 pound shuttle. The room was very clean, very spacious compared to other hotels near London, and comfortable.

so-so airport hotel

Pros: close proximity to National Express bus stop to Heathrow
Cons: Please stop gauging your patrons with unnecessary wifi fees.
booked this because of its advertised closeness to south terminal and my standard expectations of a Mariott Courtyard. it is definitely walkable and many signs to keep you on track, but we arrived very late and it was very dark. there is one particlarly area that is hidden from the road very poorly lit, and when your hands are full with luggage not knowing exactly where you are going, the last thing you need to worry about is getting jumped behind a hidden wall and dark bushes. Perhaps Courtyard and/or Gatwick maintenance should look into this? The room was large for UK standards, and very soundproof considering we are beside an airport. having to pay for the internet by the hour is a real drag considering the cost to spend one night here. Most business hotels (and all other Courtyards I have stayed at) provide free wifi. This was a sticking point because of the amount of things I needed to coordinate or book online before my flight in the morning. Staff was friendly, however did not have the knowledge I expected they might re: transfers and transport to LHR or to tube stations. In fact seemed pretty clueless. I would have expected they got this question every other day from passengers passing through.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding our hotel. The lights are the responsibility of the Highways Agency and Gatwick Airport. The walkway is controlled by CCTV and operated by the local police for terrorist prevention reasons and is therefore very safe. I am sorry if you found our staff not knowledgeable enough in regards to local knowledge and we shall include this in future training sessions to improve their knowledge. Modern Hotel within walking distance to airport

Within 10 minutes easy walk to Gatwick's south terminal and the car rental return, this comfortable hotel was perfect for me and my family. The decor is modern and fresh, staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent (full cooked sections as well as cereal, fruit, European cheese and meat!) The hotel restaurant and bar are well appointed with cool decor and comfy seating. Our family room had 2 double beds and thanks to on site airport luggage carts we were able to go from car to hotel room to airport departures with ease. Will recommend and use again for sure!

Pros: King size bed
Cons: Cost of parking, politeness of staff
Location: Only thing in the area is macdonalds and a garage and obviously the airport but would rather drive 1/2 hour to the airport and stay in a friendlier
Can't say no more just would not stay again, does not feel friendly just like production line and staff quiet abrupt.

OK hotel but mediocre food and indifferent service

The hotel is reasonably convenient for Gatwick but it involved a long wait for a bus (£3 per person) from the North Terminal. Restaurant staff were somewhat disengaged and the food was either bland (pork burger) or overdone (salmon) - especially disappointing given the prices charged. Staff did not seem interested in our feedback. The room itself seemed ok but the air conditioning is extremely noisy. Once we had turned it off there was still a loud mechanical whirring coming from somewhere deep inside the building that lasted all night. It would be hard to recommend this hotel.

Dear Guest, Thank you for providing your feedback regarding our hotel. I am sorry you found the wait for the shuttle bus too long. The bus runs every 20 minutes. The alternative is taking a taxi or the free link train from the North Terminal to the South Terminal and walk 10 minutes to the hotel? I am not sure about the 'pork' burger? We don't sell pork burgers. Our burgers are made of pure beef. We have a special offer of Wild boar and Chorizo burger which proofs to be very popular. I have no idea about where the 'whirring' noise is coming from and passed your comment on to our maintenance team for investigation. I am certainly disappointed that your stay was not all that it could have been. Please accept our apologies and thank you for choosing Marriott Hotels.
