“Comfortable, clean & v. close to Barbican tube station”
Stayed for one night as it was close to The Brewery where I was attending an award dinner - the walk was less than 10min along the main road and then a well lit tunnel. Room was clean & spacious with kitchen facilities incl microwave, fridge and complimentary tea & coffee. Staff very helpful and polite. Disappointment was the free internet in the room did not have a strong signal. Very close to Barbican tube station - turn left from exit, takes less than 5min to walk, passing Tesco Express on the way which is ideal if you are staying for additional nights. For the price paid for a studio room with pull out bed it was good value, and would stay there again.
“A convenient hotel for businessmen and tourists.”
Citadines Apart'hotel Barbican is in a great place just 10 minutes walk from St Paul's Cathedral and 2 minutes walk to the closest underground station, Barbican, which is on the Circle, and Hammersmith and City lines. The hotel is not one of those where people would go for their vacations in the sense that there are no swimming pools, spa centres, etc. Just the opposite - it is a perfect place for people who are in London for business or as tourists. Rooms are quite convenient, with TV and free broadband, and also in the rooms that we had there were fridges, cookers, microwaves. It is thus perfect if you intend to spend most of your time in London outside of hotel which is most certainly the case. The experience is similar to what I would expect if I hired an apartment in the centre of London.
“Great if You Know What to Expect”
I travel around a lot and stay at places like Travelodge and the likes, but I'm fed up with eating out alone, etc. The apart-hotels in London are all too expensive but this is a good compromise. Yes, they have sofa beds, but I'm 6' 2" and 16 stone and I had a great night's sleep. I'm not sure if there are other types of beds, but if I had my lady with me then one of us would have had the sofa bed and the other the pull out. Not great for cuddling couples. Unusual double door to the room with one door opening to rooms 301 & 303 and then a second door for your own room. Good for families but a bit scary for the small lady that I bumped into late at night...
“Served a purpose”
Generally clean and comfortable. Expedia didnt make it overly clear about the room type, there are three main types, a studio room (sofa bed), studio plus (sofa bed but you get breakfast in the morning) or an apartment (double room and a sofa bed). Never-the-less a adequate room in the part of london that we wanted. Parking was a frustration. The hotel has a lift, but the person we called ahead to, in order to find out if a people carrier & 4 door saloon could go in the lift, they said yeah sure. When we turned up the chap on reception insisted the cars were WAY to big!!! Luckily there were two spaces outside that were available. Very frustrating, but turned out OK for us.
“Very Poor”
There wasnt even a bed in my room! For the price charged per night i at least expect a bed ! A sofa bed that you have to pull out and make up yourself is just not good enough especially when you supposedly book a room that sleeps two guests. There is no Air conditioning and because the rooms are on a major road sleeping with the window open for ventilation is an impossibility.I had an extremely uncomfortable night and will not return.
