“Good location poor hotel”

This was probably the worst hotel I have stayed in ever. The rooms were tatty they could have done with total decorating the bathrooms were very poor and damp. You could not control the heating it was just on. The lift made me feel as though it was about to collapse. Breakfast was terrible. On the plus side if you want to get into London it is very convenient.

“FAULTY TOWERS”

This hotel was awful, I know it wasnt expensive to stay in but to be quite honest i was horriffied at how dirty the place was. Fixtures were caked in dust and there were pubic hairs on the sheets and pillows, Stains on the duvet cover and also on the curtains. light fittings were fused and the sockets were hanging off the walls, phoneline didnt work, windows had no handles and were half open/half shut (fire hazard) To have a shower I had let the water run for ten minutes and as if that wasnt bad enough I then had to hold the showerhead just so as the water would fall on me. The drain in shower must have been blocked as I was having to stand in like 2inches of water. These were only a few of the things I encountered although the list is endless all I can say is this place shouldnt be in business it was disgusting. MY ADVICE NEVER STAY HERE!!!

Area recommendations
I would recommend the westend for how lively it is and its more convenient If you want to see around the city. This hotel was too far out of the way and cost a small fortune in taxi fares when the tube station was closed.

“not happy”

Comforter and blanket were in intolerable condition, and I was told no better ones were available.

“Decent hotel, Great Location.”

This hotel was not perfect but had great air conditioning and great location. Walking distances from everything. The staff was friendly and first shift staff was helpful. Breakfast was the same everyday! The room small for three people but it would be great for a couple. Bathroom was large. No iron in the room but you can ask for one. Overall a great experience!

Getting around
Be aware that the tours offer by Appian Line are not as describe online. First they don't pick you up at your hotel like stated in the voucher and they are not as friendly as other tour companies I had used in the past. Used the metro or busses to get around.

“HORRIBLE!!!!!!”

THIS PLACE HAS BEEN THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN. THE SERVICE, THE FOOD, AND THE ATTIUDE OF THE STAFF WAS HORRIBLE. THE ROOM I GOT WAS SMELLING, DIRTY, AND NOTHING WORKED. THE TOILET, AND BATHROOM SINK WERE CLOGED!!!! THE CARPETS, BED, SHEETS, AND WALLS WERE DIRTY, STANIED. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!! I WOULD RATHER STAY IN LONDON'S METRO THAN THIS HOTEL!!!!!

“Neglected Hotel”

Maitinance to the furniture and building has been completely neglected. The hotel looks as if it is from old ages regarding the furniture and plumbing. The rooms contain Tv set perhaps belongs to 1960s only a screen without remote controls. No space for travellers to rest or meet visitors.

Area recommendations
Paddinton area is fit for business and leisure with lots of restaurants and transportation facilities..

“Great location, terrible otherwise”

I stayed here with 3 friends while on spring break. We chose this hotel because it was right next to Paddington Station for a low price. The prime location was NOT worth any of the hassle though. We requested a quad room months before our stay yet were given a triple with a crappy cot. We didn't even have room for our luggage. The shower head didn't work, the toilet didn't flush, our windows were taped shut- it was a disaster. We moved rooms the next morning to an actual quad- 2 sets of 2 twin beds pushed together. Toilet and shower were shotty, beds were comfortable enough, we actually had room to walk in our room. Rooms only had 1 outlet, a TV high up on the wall without a remote, a hairdryer that worked for about 40 seconds, and lights that started to smell like they were burning after a few minutes. There were also a bunch of students- on school trips I assume- who were loud and a bit obnoxious. The plus side- the front desk and housekeeping employees were very nice. Location was great. Also had free breakfast- it was only toast, hard-boiled eggs, sometimes cereal, sometimes cold orange juice. I wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you were on a SEVERE budget and have no standards of quality. I wish I had paid for a nicer hotel in retrospect. It would have been nice to know that when I got back to my hotel I would be assured a flushing toilet at least.

“Good location BUT not the best hotel (service, cleaning, comfort)”

This hotel has a good location, 2 minute walking distance from Paddington underground station (biggest advantage). The hotel reception as not that good though, the room VERY small, carpet not that clean, bathroom with no soap, shampoo smelled very bad, and could hear everything on the other room. The room door did not close, however, after I requested a room change, it improved. I would recommend this hotel in case you r very tight with your budget, and only to sleep and go. No air conditioning. I found out later that for 20 to 30 more pound you could find a nicer hotel in the last minute.

Area recommendations
Try to gt something near Trafalgar station... very centric and I hear you could find a last minute hotel for a good price.

“OK place to stay”

A conveniently located hotel. Otherwise, a typical place for London in that price range - affordable, somewhat run-down, not exactly immacculately clean. It's right next to Paddington Station, too, so it's a good place to stay if you need to catch Heathrow Express in the morning. No surprises, either pleasant or unpleasant.

“But what do you expect for the price!”

I needed to add one night onto a trip at the last minute and knew that we would arrive at the hotel at about 1:00 am and would leave later that same morning. So we wanted something close to the tube and cheap. It was close to the tube ( 2 or 3 minute walk), and it was not expensive. I had reserved a room with two beds (made reservation on the phone) but upon checkin had to argue and show my confirmation that it said two beds. I was told I could only have two beds if available. They ultimately did have a room available with two beds. The room was in a separate crummy building with a seven floor walk up to the room -- no elevator. The room was extremely small, that is there were two beds and they touched the walls on two sides and had less than one foot at the base and no room for even one end table on the other side. There was no closet and one hanger on a hook on the wall. The bathroom was very small but new and clean, and had a good shower that worked well. There was NO place to put suitcases. No, I would not stay here again. But on the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the room smelled clean. The breakfast was toast or cerial and jam. We laughed about it all and it served our purpose!.

Area recommendations
I would recommend any neighborhood that was close to a subway or tube stop. The neighborhood depends upon your purpose for the visit and how much you want to spend. If you want to visit London, do not stay out of town, or near the airport. It would just be too inconvenient.
Events and shows
The theatre in the West End is great. Always check out the half price ticket booth at Leicester Square on the day of the performance. It is the official booth in the middle of the square (looks like a little train station), not all the ticket sales offices as you get off the subway. While wating for your show, there are also great, and inexpensive, places to eat in Chinatown, just up from the Leicester Square tube station. If what you want is not for sale at the half price booth, check one of the other services, or go directly to the boxoffice of the theatre. Most are within walking of this area.
