“City Gem”
Excellent hotel. Above average standards for everything: room, public areas, restaurant and service. Only drawback is way above average rates. Expedia special rate helped this time though. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone, provided the price is right.
“Great location, expensive”
Was a great hotel. Clean, quiet and in great location. The bed was a little hard, but overall it was very expensive for what it was. If you need the central location then I would recommend it. Otherwise there are cheaper options nearby.
“Nice hotel convenient location for City of London”
Apex City Hotel is modern and clean and the check in staff were very helpful and friendly. It is very close to the Tower Hill tube station and conveniently located for visiting the attractions around the Tower of London. Our room was big if a little strangely laid out but it had a sofa and sitting area which you don't get with many other hotels. The bathroom had a large walk in shower and a bath and it was very clean with all the amenities. The only area where it was a let down was the bar food. When we asked at 11pm for spicky chicken wings and Houmous we waited half an hour. They had no Houmous so we took Falafel instead. When the dishes arrived they were both really dry. The spicy chicken wings had no sauce and we did not enjoy either so left most of it. Apart from that we would recommend this hotel if you want to be in that area.
“Great stay in Tower Hill”
Conveniently located in Tower Hill section of London. A bit far from many of the attractions in London but very close to London Bridge and Tower of London.
“Not bad”
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the Tate Modern, Tower of London and, my favorite place in London: The Burroughs Market. The bedroom and bathroom were surprisingly large. We had a pleasant view onto a little church park, a nice surprise in the heart of the City. The reception staff was helpful and determined to find solutions for us. On a less positive note: the bed was uncomfortably hard. We also had to call the reception every time we needed to have the window opened or closed (what a pain!). Most everything around the hotel is closed on Saturday and Sunday, so know you'll need to get out of the neighborhood to find restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and shops in general. One thing to know: ALL of London is under construction right now, so expect to hear construction work pretty much every where you go (including on week-ends...)
“very happy with this place”
I was in London for my 5th time and this was the best hotel I stayed in so far. It's clean and modern. The rooms are fairly standard sized for London. Beds are comfortable. The room was very quiet which is important to me. I slept very well. The Tower Hill Underground station is very near so extremely convenient. You can be in Picaddilly in 15 minutes. Overall very very good value for the money
“Excellent quite hotel!”
This hotel is excellent!... Very modern, clean and with a very friendly staff. The rooms are great, the space was adequate and we really enjoyed our stayed there. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is conveniently located within a 2 min walk from the Underground (Tower Hill stop) and other bus stops, which makes it very convenient to go anywhere. If you like to walk, you can even walk along the river from there all the way to the parliament with no problem. The hotel is in a very quite small park and it seems to be in a business area, so if you are looking for night life in the end of your day, you will not find anything around the hotel but if you are looking for a quite hotel but still easy to get from anywhere by public transportation, this is the place! I will definitely go back!
“Great hotel!”
Great value and the hotel was very hip/modern. Room itself was very clean and convenient to the local metro stop. Would definitely recommend!
“Gem in the City of London!”
Booked Apex City of London for my wife's 40th birthday. The room was ready early - which was appreciated since we had flown all night from SF. Other reviewers had mentioned how quiet the hotel is - which is spot on. If you're looking for a modern hotel with friendly staff, nicely appointed rooms, excellent amenities with easy access to London Underground (Tower Hill stop is less than 2 minutes away) at a reasonable price, than look no further! The location is in the City of London, with the Tower of London right around the corner. Makes a pretty dramatic backdrop at night when you're coming out of the Tower Hill tube stop walking back to hotel. My only comment about the location, if you've never been to London before, some folks might be disappointed they aren't in the "middle" of everything. Of course, it's easy to get to everything via the Undergound. We have travelled to London 3 previous times, so staying in a touristy area (with added noice and cost) wasn't important to us. I highly recommend the Apex City of London Hotel! be in the middle with a quick trip through the Underground, but it that's something you value, than this particular hotel's location might be a bit of a disappointment. For us, we've been to London 4 previous times.....so staying in a bigger tourist area wasn't important to us.
“Great hotel”
We only stayed at this hotel for one night however we really enjoyed our stay here. We had arrived from Sydney that night and were looking forward to relaxing for the night. This hotel certainly allowed us to do this. The staff were very helpful and polite.
