“Excellent, friendly, clean, good value, great location”
For London this was a great find, it is in a great location near the river, the Tate modern and St Pauls. Price booking through Expedia was very reasonable. Room clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast.
“Great for a business visit. Okay for tourists.”
This hotel is very clean and compact, but our room had very little storage or floor room. Nice modern bathroom too. The Internet was free and the breakfast generous. We didn't eat or use the bar in the evenings, as it lacked any ambiance. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel is just two blocks down from the Thames River walk (then a block west to The Globe Theater) and just across the Southwark (pronounced Suthark) Bridge. Very convenient to two Tube entrances and the river taxi. We like to walk and so found both St. Paul's and London Bridge two very easy walks. Southwark area is interesting, but not as glitzy as much of the rest of tourist London. Along the river walk there are great restaurants! Overall we felt Southwark Rose prices were very fair. It is clearly a hotel set up for business people, rather than families, but that was okay with the two of us.
“Good hotel in good location”
This is one of a few hotels I use around Borough Market and is fine. Rooms are small and price quite high, but this is par for the course in this area.
“A great trip”
The hotel was very good with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. I read a review that said that the hotel was miles from the tube station, thats utter rubbish, its a short walk from the tube and about 5 mins walk from the river and attractions such as HMS Belfast. I would definately recommend this hotel.
“Marvellous value for money”
Location spot on within easy reach of attractions and nightlife. Very comfortable hotel with decent buffet breakfast for the money. Would certainly book in again.
“The best designed hotel I've stayed in for some time”
The location was convenient to both Southwark Cathedral,Tate Modern and Borough Market. The rooms were well designed and modern, confortable and attractive. The breakfast room was most pleasant. The staff polite & efficient.
“Would recommend for an overnight stop”
Room was ready early, so immediately on arrival we could check-in and not have to wait. Rooms were small, but fine for a straight stopover (I wouldn't have liked to spend any lengthy time in there). Close to tube and convenient with many shops, bars and eateries in the immediate vicinity. Only down-side was that the breakfast was only continental, but additions were reasonably priced.
“Great hotel, very good price”
Everything about our stay was very good. The staff were excellent and very helpful and the room was clean, very modern with a king size bed and 32inch lcd tv. Couldnt of asked for anymore really. The breakfast had a good selection and one morning we decided to have the full English for £5 each. It was the best I'd ever had but by no means was it bad. Overall I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London. Good access to transport and in a quiet location away from the noise.
“Nice and simple”
I like this hotel a lot. It is modern and simple - but still very comfortable. And it takes managing its environment impact very seriously - and I don't just mean asking you to use your towels more than once!
“Good Value South Bank Hotel”
If you get a deal the hotel is very good value. Near to The Globe, Borough Green Market, and a short walk to the City and Circle Line stations. The only small issue was 'learning' the technique of how to get the kettle to work! A phone call to reception did the trick.
