Tired, but pleasant

Posted 21-Sep-2014
Pros: Central location, relaxed atmosphere.
Cons: More lighting.
Location: Very central, but not noisy. Many restaurants and bars, large shopping centre 10 minutes walk.
Rather gloomy not helped by an apparent inability to change light bulbs. The breakfast selection was narrow by today's standards, but all was good quality, apart from the bacon. Very good location, and surrounded by restaurants and bars. Would happily go again.

Opulent

For the price of £49 per night I was provided with an opulent apartment, that way well have been lifted from a grand hotel in Paris. Fantastic! This was my third stay at the hotel; the quality of service has been outstanding throughout. This hotel is not a little gem - it is a GRAND gem. Enjoy it before the developers get hold of it.

In the midst of the action!

The hotel needs to be refurbished, but staff did their best to make up for it.

Perfect for a couple of nights

Bang in the middle of all the action and close to everything we needed. Had an apartment (409), even the bathroom had a balcony (as did all the other rooms). Acceptable for the price given it's location, but does need updating.

Great Location

You stay at the Grand for it's charm, history and location, not 5 start extravagance. Rough around the edges, but this adds to the charm. If you want something slick with all mod cons, stay elsewhere.

Stay here for the grandness and not comfort/qualit

Posted 24-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
You can't escape the hotel's historic pedigree, once frequented by the rich and famous, you can even choose st stay in same apartments that they used to stay in! However, the lack of investment shows, the floor boards creek, the bed creeks, the shower head mounts don't do their job, you have to wait for the hot water. All these faults disappear one you enter and you can't help think so'n'so stayed right here. do yourself a favour and book an apartment, the standard rooms are disappointing (having stayed in both).

It could be nice

I did not like it, they have price and advertising aspiration to be a excellent hotel, but the equipemnt is broken or in bad condition. The bathfroom was tragedy. It is good to sleep but not for the vacation experience, localisation is excellent it you don need comfort or nice room this is good solution.

Lovely staff, great location

Hotel Grand in Lodz is great. We were made very welcome - the staff have good English speaking skills, and were friendly and helpful at all times. If it's chrome and steel you want, then perhaps you should look elsewhere - but if you want historic location, character and old-world charm then you will find them here. The dining-room is spectacular - even if you are staying in a different hotel, it's worth popping in to have a look anyway! The Grand is situated about half-way along Piotrakowska street which is largely pedestrianized and lined with beautiful properties. Manufaktura, and a number of museums, parks and other attractions are within walking distance. Breakfast was plentiful and varied, and the kitchen will take orders for things not on the actual buffet table. Cheap bicycle hire is available from premises just behind the hotel. Rooms clean!

Nicest staff you could hope for

Posted 28-Sep-2013
The hotel was once the place to stay but is in great need of renovation. My bed was sagging in the middle and the first set of sheets were so old that they looked permenantly grubby, my wife would not have slept in them. They changed to white sheets midweek which looked fine. I wish I had known to ask at the start. The staff were lovely and tried to sort me out but the alternative rooms were no better.
