A last-minute booking when heading north to Scotland, with a "deadline" 10.00pm arrival time. Held up on M6, rang hotel to pre-warn them we would be late, only to be told "no problem!!" On arrival at 10.20pm, we were greeted warmly by owner Stephen - and his staff and customers - and immediately felt at home. Nothing was too much trouble that night, and the room/bed/shower etc were superb. Breakfast the following morning was freshly cooked, and set us up for the rest of our journey north.
As a result of our experience, we immediately booked for the following week on our return journey home, hoping for a repeat performance! (We don't ever return to a place if we don't like it!).
Needless to say, on our return visit, we were even more pleasantly surprised by the warmth of our welcome, and by the friendliness and efficiency of Stephen's staff.
Impeccably courteous receptionist, was precise in her instruction and guidance. For the price we paid the rooms and facilities were more than we expected, and when we opened the rear door to a petite balcony there was a tranquil lake with swans, birds and other lake habitats and the scenery beyond was just superb - enticed us to pop open our wine and enjoy it with watching the lake.
The only hitch was that to get a good dinner ( that is if you don't lke the SVC station food ) you have to drive 6 miles to Mofat, the nearest town. But which we are glad we did as the restaurants there a plenty and the one we went to was excellent.
Stayed two nights as we were visiting the Samye Ling Tibetan Monastery and enjoyed thoroughly the drive through the scenic routes to the monastery, visiting the towns of Mofat and Lockerbie and the Hotel stay.
Will definitely stay in Days Inn at Jhonstone Bridge if I am that way again.
The hotel staff and management really make this hotel what it is. They are extremely attentive to your every need. The hotel is lovely and quiet with beautiful fields surrounding it. The food was amazing on both nights. Would definitely visit again and would recommend this as a wedding venue
