“unpretentious, but well equipped”

Though there was alot of discussion amongst the receptionist when I checked in, this hotel was one of my favorite of journey. The room was spacious and warm. While it didn't offer body lotion, etc. , it had what I needed. Lonely planet describes the hotel accurately as "unpretentious, but well equipped." I liked the location between city center and the rail station. Extremely clean and good breakfast. Recommend, recommend, recommend.

“Great staff and location but bathroom is small”

Great staff and location but bathroom is small, breakfast pretty basic and a little loud until midnight. But would stay there again as good value comapred to Austria Trend or Hotel Slon. Although facilities at latter two are much better.

Area recommendations

anywhere around the old city and waterways as very relaxed, good selection of cafes etc. Tivoli park is great if you have kids, head for the lake and you will find a great playground!

“Great Hotel for the Money and Great Location.”

The room was nice and the breakfast buffet had plenty of variety - great breads, fresh vegetables and fruit and even hot scrambled eggs. Oh and the location was wonderful - we walked everywhere. Good price good value - I highly recommend it.

Definitely check your travel guide or ask for recommendations - the restaurants we tried were just okay. Also coffee shop/bars everywhere but seemed hard to find a place to sit down and have lunch.

“Mixed Review”

Overall the hotel was surprisingly nice, the location is good (easy walk to train station and downtown area), breakfast buffet was excellent, but the internet access was practically useless. I paid extra for a "comfort" room that was supposed to have wired internet access (I need it to keep up with work). It was basically unusable and the staff had no solution, but it was clear they knew it was an existing problem. My only other complaint is that there was an unpleasant sewage smell coming out of the drain in the bathroom, but it was tolerable.

“Good value, although noisy”

Great value for money and convenient for city center. Proximity to hostels means that it can get noisy late at night, particularly as there is no a/c and therefore the windows are open. Good for younger set.

“very well located near cute, cool bars and restaurants”

Lacking in personality but perfect for a nights sleep. The room was clean and quiet, breakfast was your usual bread and cheese. The real bonus about Hotel Park is that you can walk from the station and its really close for stumbling back from lovely little bars by the dragon bridge.

“Very good hotel - apart from room temperature”

The hotel is very well located - just a short walk to the centre. The staff are friendly, polite and efficient and the breakfast buffet is very good quality. My room and bathroom were very clean and of ample size. The only drawback was the room temperature. Whilst I was there, the outside day temperature reached 35C, which made the room hot even during the night. It is possible to lift the bottom catch on the window to open it completely, which helps lower the temperature. However on a future occasion in summer, I would pay extra and book a room with air conditioning.

Dining

Although the prices are very reasonable everywhere (compared to London!!) it is worthwhile seeking restaurants away from the touristy riverside venues. The atmosphere is much quieter, it's where the Slovenes go and the value for money is better.
