Good staff barrack block architecture.

Cons: Make decor in keeping with the period of the main hotel
Location: Not much to do nearby other than visit the retail park outlets.
In September 2014, I took two rooms - one was refurbished "Boutique" the other "Executive". The latter did not justify its description but refurbishment continues. The main part is Victorian and attractive but why contrast with "chic" Formica tables when white linen tablecloths would be more appropriate.....all about margins? The rooms are in added wings that resemble Catterick Garrison. The staff were excellent but clearly under pressure. I fear management is cutting corners on labour costs and this will ultimately reflect on bookings. Dinner was very good but expensive for location. We were part of a wedding party and our two night stay cost around £725 which is quite enough for a hotel in that area. Had the care of the staff not been so good I think one would have felt overcharged

Not what you should expect

Posted 15-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
Got a room with dirty linens and a terrible low-budget bed. Luckily I was able to change it. Wi-Fi hardly works, and service-Level is far from what you should expect from a 4-star hotel. Rooms and buildinga are old, but bathrooms were fresh.

Perfect gift!

Posted 07-Jul-2014
The room was purchased as a gift for a workmate and his bride, they had recently married abroad and were celebrating the wedding party at a nearby venue. I am told the gift was perfect as the room was lovely, staff polite and attentive and the breakfast delicious!

A quiet place in the country.

I was there for only one day but managed to swim twice in the excellent Roman baths style swimming pool. In good weather it is a nice walk to Neston station.

Could be better

I was unfortunately underwhelmed by Thornton Hotel and Spa. For the cost of the hotel I expected more. The rooms are ok, but basic. The service felt a little rushed, especially at breakfast. I wouldn't stay here again, there are better options for the same price point.

Nice break

Booked the hotel last minute with the intention on spending the day at the spa. Really enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi pools. These were the best feature. We thought that the food was pricey - £8 for an egg sandwich. We had the Rasul mud treatment which we enjoyed the experience however this left our skin dry the next day. We would return to the hotel as it's a great location for shopping nearby.

Poor room finishes

Posted 02-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
The condition of the rooms dated decor and poor finishes, such as the sealant around the bath, damage to bathroom door veneer and paint detail let down what was an otherwise comfortable stay and brings into question the cost of the room.
